One thing I've noticed over the years with all the manufacturing recalls - be it food or products:

Its not the machines that are the cause of errors in manufacturing. Its the persons cleaning, setting up and taking down the machines as well as handling all the materials that go onto the lines Human error accounts for a lot more then we'd like to acknowledge and all it takes is one cocky person thinking they're just doing a 'joe job', a second of not paying attention or someone not caring b/c the pay is minimum wage and they're brought in to be a temp vs a full time employee with benefits.

I used to be responsible for screening people to work on our lines and well A LOT didnt make the cut. A factory job takes a lot more skill and education then one thinks!

I have a very good friend that worked at KC for years and she told some horror stories competior sent people in to work at KC and they put ground up glass in tampons and they had to destroy truck loads of boxes. That was only one of the things that happened. That has been several years ago.

That's why I use sea sponges... and sterilize them myself! They're frugal too, by the way, since one sponge lasts about 6 months.
