Depends on how busy your hospital is, but 2-3 days sounds about right. They tend to process the images pretty quickly. If nothing else, they should call you within a week to tell you the results were normal. Or you may get a letter, which is what mine does.

If you don't hear in 10-14 days, call your doctor's office. They should have gotten a copy of the results.

Just had my first a few months ago, as I turned 40 as well. I didn't think it was that bad. Sure, a bit uncomfortable, but not bad. Don't worry, just remember to breath. You'll do fine.
