    Default Diabetes and extra weight...

I just got a phone all from my mom, this evening. My dad is sick, again. He has been diabetic, type 2, for the last 28 years. He is always sick with circulation problems in his legs, his sight is slowly diminishing, he has neurological problems, which make his right side tremble all the the time, he also has high blood pressure.

These are just some of the problems he lives with, everyday. He has been very good with his diet since day 1 he found out he had diabetes, but the desease got worse in the last 5 years.

Like I said, my mom phoned me to tell me that he has fever since tuesday and he had diarehea for 2 days and sleeps all the time, plus his blood pressure is very high. She is thinking of going to the hospital tonight or tomorrow morning, if he doesn't get better.

What does all this have to do with *Live for Life club* ?

Seeing my dad sick is the MAIN reason, I am wanting to lose these 80 lbs I am carrying around. I am 38, very hypoglycemic. When I eat junk food, I feel like I am on a rollercoaster ride...

I want to be healthy when I am 55 or 60 yrs, old. I don't want to be sick like my dad. He really has had a low quality of life since his early fifties. Now he is 61. Imagine. 61...I just can't beleive we live, we work hard, have children and get sick....

I don't want that happening to me. I'm really counting on this club to motivate myself in making permanent HEALTHY CHANGES.

    Thank-you Sara for starting it.

I hope my post was not too long. I really needed to share this with you.

    Lucie

Lucie, thank you for posting this. It really is an encouragement for us to lose weight.

One of the side effects of being over weight is a very good posibility of getting diabetes or having heart problems.

A close friend of ours was just diagnosed with diabetes and he is VERY overweight and now is on a very restricted diet.

Thank you for sharing this with us.

Best wishes to your Dad, Lucie. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on diabeties. Good health is a great incentive for us all. My Dad died at 41 of a heart attack. I was so stressed when that age rolled around for me. I've made it and want to grow old and see my future grandkids and their kids too. We can do it!

Thank you all for your kind words for my dad. His fever is down and he is stable. They didn't go to the hospital, finally.

That's so sad for your friend, cj. I hope this friend can be able to lose weight and control his/her diabetes.

Thanks Sherry for your concern, that's very nice of you.

Darlene, you must have been devasted when your dad died at such an early age! I can just imagine how worried you were for yourself, since, often, some deseases are heriditary.

Together we will make it and attain our goals of a healthy life. We have one life to live and we deserve to have a chance at having a healthy and happy one!
