I joined Weight Watchers
I had been trying to do WW on my own and was having very little success. I lost 14 pounds intially and kept cheating my way up and down the scale.
I happened to catch Oprah this week, first time in months. They were reairing the show with Bob Greene and I realized a few things about myself. I am an emotional eater. I have always kinda known that, but it dawned on me during the show how much of a problem this was for me. I also realized that I need to have accountability for my weight. I need to have the emotional support. So I went to WW the very next day.
A few interesting things happened at the meeting.
First while I was waiting in line to be weighed, I noticed a poster board with peoples names on it and how much they had walked. The top name on the poster was a woman I know. I saw her last fall and almost didn't recognize her because she had lost so much weight. In fact I only recognized her because her husband was with her. She didn't mention how she lost the weight, so I seriously thought she had gastric bypass surgery. I was relieved to find out that she is a member of WW and if she can loss that much weight so can I.
Second the WW scale weighed me in 14 pounds heavier than my scale at home! I was pretty shocked to find out that I weighed as much as I did. Quite frankly it pissed me off and now I am even more determined to lose this weight. When I got home I put my scale in the closet and I am not going to use it any longer. From now on I will only weigh myself at weigh-ins.
Third, this very nice woman sat next to me and we chatted before the meeting started. She said that this was her 13th week and we chatted about our kids. When the meeting started she got her 10% keychain, so that was really exciting. She said she hoped to see me next week and I promised her I would be back. So although she doesn't know it, she has made me even more accountable.
Fourth, there was this very pretty, outgoing, personable woman about my age there. She had on this lovely summer dress that was cut perfectly for her. She really made an impression on me. Anyway during the meeting she got a 5 pound star and I thought gee she probably had a total of 15 pounds to lose total and was probably like 5 pounds from goal. She told us that she had lost 65 pound so far and had 10 to go. I was shocked. She didn't look like she had ever been really overweight. So know I feel like if she can do it then I can too.
I have made a few changes in my eating already. I decided that I am going to try to break my points up as evenly as possible. So I have been having a 7 point breakfast every morning, a 10ish point lunch and an 8ish point supper. I am also limiting myself to one afternoon snack. WW doesn't make me eat like this, but I want to eat like a normal healthy person so I am doing this. I am also making sure I have very balanced meals. For breakfast this morning I had an egg white omlette with low cal cheese, a cup of pineapple, oatmeal and V-8 juice. I don't just want to lose weight, I want to be healthy.

That's so great Christy. Good for you! (I also watched Oprah the other day too) I'm probably one of the only people not completely familiar with the points system. Chelle was wonderful and sent me tons of info last year, so I have "no excuse" to look it all over.
Thanks for the post. It's incentive for me to dig out the information and look it over and see if it would work for me.If you'd like to help support Frugal Living by Sara Noel, my syndicated column, e-mail, write, or call the managing editor at your local newspaper and ask them to publish it in print or online. Christy, congratulations on joining WW. I'm a lifetime member, and just went back in January to lose around 45 pounds. So far, I've lost 17 and hope to be at my goal by the Fall. I've made lots of really good friends at my meeting, some of us get together outside of WW for a movie or a meal out. The great thing about those meetings is all of the success stories and the support that we give to each other. Good luck!

Way (weigh?!*) to go, Christy. I joined WW last June and ~25 lbs. is lost and gone forever. Still have 75 left to lose, but I try to focus on one day at a time. I find it helpful for me to attend the weekly meetings, as I always seem to learn something to aid me on the weight loss journey (even though I would rather be comatose at 9:00 on Saturday mornings!!). In addition to this site, you might also like to check out:
** http://www.dwlz.com (Dottie's Weight Loss Zone. There is an icon about restaurants and people send in points values from these places)
** http://www.weightwatchers.com (self-explanatory!)

Let's all keep encouraging one another!

Lol at the season pass. I bought 10 weeks in advance so I would have to stick with it.
So far, so good. I have lost 9.4 pounds so far and my next weigh in is tomorrow. Here are how my losses have been.......
Week 1 - 5 pounds
Week 2 - 4 pounds
Week 3 - .4 pounds
Week 4 - Will find out tomorrow.
TOM visited right after my weigh in last week, so I am hoping that had something to do with my ultra small loss. I am hoping for a good loss tomorrow, so we shall see.
I have not had a problem sticking with the program, because I know I have to weigh in every week. The accountability thing is a biggie for me. I feel really confident that I can do this forever, so that is exciting.
