We have a Nordic Track exercise bike. I really do like it as it is not noisy and very easy to do. It's all electronic so you can set the resistance and free ride or do preprogrammed timed rides. We have ours in the living room so DH or I can hop on and ride while watching tv and it makes the time go by pretty quick.

I own quite a few pieces of exercise equipment.
I have a treadmill, I like it because you can adjust the incline and speed at your own pace and its easy on the knees, plus it has programs that you can choose that automatically adjust for you. It's very easy to maintain, we've had ours for about 10 years, I think its a ProForm, I'd look but its downstairs and I'm being lazy right now! All I do to it is oil the belt once a year, that's it. It's a good cardio workout, especially with some good music!
We have an elliptical trainer, its a NordicTrack. We bought it 4 years ago, I use it more than the treadmill, but can't stay on it for too long. I think its a better workout, because you use your arms too so it really gets the heartrate up. It also has programs that you can choose, or you can do a manual program. Easier on the knees compared to the treadmill.
We have a stationary bike, I like it, but hardly use it because I think the seat is uncomfortable. My fiance uses its and loves it, but he's always been into biking, so its part of his training routine.
And, we have the Gazelle Freestyle Elite. I use it occasionally, its a decent workout, not as good as the elliptical. Everything is manual, nothing to program. It does have a heartrate monitor, calorie counter and timer. I use it mostly for the inner and outer thigh area!
If I had to choose one, I would get an elliptical trainer. I think it offers the best workout for the money.
Hope that helps!

Thanks for your replies. I think we are going to get an elliptical machine, Gina. I really like a treadmill for the reasons you posted, but my dh likes the elliptical. I do agree that it provides a more well-rounded workout than the treadmill.

You'll love the elliptical, it really is a great workout! I really like our Proform elliptical, its sturdy, has a lot of programs and its quiet.
Enjoy the workout!

I've done the elliptical before, and I do like it, but I like the treadmill better.Originally posted by gkp1031

I have to be really "gung ho" to hop on the E.M., but I can get on the treadmill even when I'm not in the mood to workout.

We have a T.L. Gazelle. I should be on it more than I am. You have to keep your legs bent a bit, which my husband doesn't like. And the computer readout doesn't work well for distance and km or mph. It does monitor calories burnt.
My DH thinks a treadmill might have been a better investment. Maybe we'll find a good second hand one some day.

We have this bike: [ame]http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0000YSA9E/104-1221027-3874363?_encoding=UTF8[/ame]
(Please note, we did not spend that much money on it!)
I LOVE it! It's absolutely silent, it's electronic, and it saves all of our stuff. You can change the difficulty level, move the seat, etc. I credit this machine with dh's 60 pound weight loss.
We also have a home gym with the weight circles that you put on...it's got chests, shoulders, biceps, arms, and leg exercise options. I love that, too!My Blog: http://amysreallife.wordpress.com
