Yesterday, I saw the dr....
....to pass my not very fun pap test.... I hate these tests...and my last pap test and breast examination was spring 2000....
I want to say that with what Diana has been through and what Debbie (Bushbrigade) told us about her worries...I took my courage and called for an apointement last month. I'm so glad it's done for this year and I will never again wait for so long.
In the same time my dr said my bp was a little high...I am seeing my other dr for this friday. I am not suprised, since I have gained so much weight this passed year...
When was your last pap test?.....do you go each year?....

Good for you Lucie! I just had my annual exam 2 months ago and just got notice from our hospital that it is again time for my mammogram. I hate these things too but have gone through several scares myself and want to make sure that I am healthy or that at least things are caught early enough to cure!

Good for you Lucie! You'll feel much better having that done.
Yes, I go every year. I found this wonderful doctor years ago that does yearly physicals and blood work. It's called the Cancer and Wellness Clinic. She is very thorough and I have complete faith in her. She is wonderful.
I will be praying for you Lucie about your blood pressure.....HUGS!!!
Edited to add....I go usually every May so it comin' up!!

Oh Lucie!! I'm so thankful you went!! No they're not fun - but they are necessary, these visits....
I'm an ovarian cancer survivor, so I still have to have a pap every 6 months (military = different doctors ~ yippee!) and I'll have to go twice a year for another 3 years....
Don't put it off.....mark your calendar on the first day of the month you're due and CALL THE DOC TO SCHEDULE ON THAT DAY!!!!!!
Let us know what happens with the next doc about that BP!!

Not due for my mammo again but my gyn is for April 16th. We ladies are very special & need to take care of ourselves. Good for you Lucie and thanks for nudging anyone who isn't taking care of no fun business.

You all are worth the embarassment, uncomfortableness and any other barrier that stops you from making the appointment. If you can't afford it money wise call different agencies & see what you can do for a low cost-no cost exam of female stuff. Just do it! You can't afford not to.

Glad you went, Lucie. I did the same thing at the end of January--it had been a while for me too

I won't wait that long again either...it's such a relief to get it done and over with.
Good luck at your appt on Friday Lucie

I am due for my pap in June, I have to call and make my appt. yet, thanks for the reminder, I'll do it tomorrow.
I am scheduled for my first mammo since cancer on June 2nd.
Yes, I go every year for both and have done so for 25 years, since I was 19 and had a non-malignant lump removed from the other breast.
I second what Lucie and Darlene are saying, I have been through just about everything that can go wrong with a woman's body. Believe me when I say NO embarrassment is worth what I have gone through or Debbie went through with ovarian cancer. If you are due, please, please make an appt. tomorrow.

I'm glad my post is a reminder for some of you.
Thank-you for sharing your thoughts on this, too. So I see it's not an easy thing to get done for anyone, but like you all say---it is worth overcoming our uneasiness to make sure we are all healthy everywhere....
Debbie (Bushbrigade) ...I can't imagine how you do it...with a different dr each time...or maybe it's easier?...I don't know...I say this because I happened to learn a few years back that my dr was a parent at the same school as my boys....so needless to say, we have gotten to know each other more over the years. We aren't friends, but I feel uncomfortable still, since we see each other at school meetings or what so....although we don't sit and chat about...but my other alternative is a my family dr, who is a man....and I feel even more uncomfortable to be examined by a man...*sigh* and here in Quebec, well, don't try to find a new dr....there aren't any....there are 2 years of wait to get a family dr. if you don't have one already---at least in my area....
Anyways....! I talk too much! lol

Well, I hate to admit this, especially since I work in a hospital but...I had a hysterectomy in March of 1993 and went for my 6 week checkup afterwards and
have not been back since then. I really do intend to make an appointment and get a pap and a mammogram. I am 41 so I need to get the baseline mammogram done. Well, now that I have written down and realized how long it has been I will get motivated and get that appointment made.

I'm so glad you went and had this very important test done Lucie!! I go every year because I have to get my birth control! LOL I have to see different doctors, too. But it isn't so bad. I'd rather just get it over with than worry about not going.
I hope your BP is ok. You keep us updated!

Lucie,
I am so glad you went and had your exam! I get a pap annually. My Mom had cervical cancer cells when she had my brother. She has had a historectomy since and knock on wood, so far so good for me. But it is scarry to think about if cancer runs in your family.
Take care everyone!

Good going Lucie!!
I went in January for my annual which came back fine...I go every year.... won't be long till I go for a mamo! I have the same doctor that delivered ds so I'm not embarrased at all. I prefer to go to a woman doctor but am not embarrased if I have a man. I am going to stick with the lady doc that I have now.
All you ladies that need to go, made the appointment!
