LET ME SAY RIGHT OFF I TRIED IT AND IT WORKS, IT WORKS, IT WORKS!!!! YAHOO!!! OK I have to admit that I thought all of you were absolutely NUTS !!! Nasal washing just sounded gross. BUT....I decided oh what the heah...I might as well try it as I have horrible allergies and I hate the side effects from sinus medications (the drowsiness etc.). I tried it and it works thanks for sharing. I am going home for a visit in a couple of weeks and I will share it with all of my family members!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I use a Neti pot with a ratio of 2 cups water to 1/4 tsp sea salt. Oh my heavens sweet relief. Takes some getting used to but I used to get sinus infections (the full blown ones including fever and requiring sick time and antibiotics) every few months, and now I haven't had one for several years.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a neti pot purchase? I'd like one as I have similar issues, but I haven't really found one readily available.

I love my Neti Pot! I purchased mine from a health food store in my town. I know that Drugstore.com has a couple to choose from. Once you get it, here is a link to learn how to use it. I have also seen one on youtube that was good.

Remember to get the water (I use distilled or boiled) warm but not hot. It's refreshing!

Haven't posted on this topic in a very long time, but since Oprah had Dr Oz do a piece on the use of the Netti pot, this practice is getting more publicity.
Anyway for those of you who don't want to make up your own normal saline cocktail, Drugstore.com has premeasured packets by McNeil the box is 12.99 for 100 premeasured packets.
They also sell a few variety of Netti and Nasal rinse bottles reasonably priced.
The premeasured packets are a God send as when we traveled I use to bring a large empty bottle to mix saline in. Now I just carry the small convient packets and rinse bottle.
In the past I posted how my family made fun of me.
Well the tide has turned!! LOL!
Now everyone has there own Netti pot! LOL!

Have done nasal wash since I was 15 years old (I am 34 now). 1 cup of warm water, and pinch of salt and baking soda. Have had 3 nasal surgeries (due to Cystic Fibrosis). Great for sinuses congestion and allergies.
I used a water pik adaptor for quite a few years till the water pik died. Now I use a baby bulb syringe (the kind of cleaning out their nose). Fill it with water and squirt it up my nose and let it fall out (with the yucky stuff).
Do this several time a week-- sanity saver!!

I tried a neti pot last week (3 times in 1 week) and it didn't help at all, but then again I already had a sinus infection.
I was suprised that almost nothing came out....I thought I would see drainage.

I bought the neti pot and I love it. I have bad sinus and I am going to use it everyday. I was wondering can you use it more then once a day? At first it burned really bad I think that I had to much salt in it. This is much better then the over the counter pills.

My mom reminded me of the Oprah show and I picked up Dr Neils kit. This one has a dispenser slightly different then the neti pot with 50 salt solutions packets.
I have a raging sinus/ear infection now , get several a year. So I did try this wash this morning. Will try to use it daily once I get this infection cleared up. Have heard good things so I figure for $10.99, was worth a try as preventative medicine."The average pencil is seven inches long, with just a half-inch eraser - in case you thought optimism was dead." ~Robert Brault

I'm a horrible sinus sufferer....I take pills on a daily basis (benadryl sinus, tylenol sinus). I really appreciate this info.

I have ear-sinus trouble non stop it feels like.
Out of desperation I have been sniffing salf water from a nasal mister.
but now I have to really sniff hard to reach my high sinuses.
Do these posts just wash the nose area?
or do you really sniff hard and get the water moving into the highrer areas?
Sorry I know thats gross!
I also started using peroxide in my ears at the first sign of trouble.
If I wait too long and get really sick, I then sniff and use water with coladial silver in it.
I'm just tired of being on antibiotics.
But now the colladial silver scares me from something I read online.
But gosh it works faster than a Z pack from the doctors.
Anyone use Colladial with the nasal misters/washers?

you don't sniff with the pot just lean over the sink and the water drains out from the other side. I used it yesterday and it felt like when you get water up your nose while swimming. But when I was done ALOT of drainage and less pressure in the ears. I am going to try it again today.
