    Default being pregnant

First - I am NOT pregnant!! Just have a question I was curious about.

Is it possible for a woman to be expecting a child and have a period? Don't ask me what made me think of this....

I have seen shows where women claim they didn't know they were expecting because they were still having their monthly cycle. Is this possible?

And once again.....this doesn't relate to me in anyway!!!!

Yes. I've read this, too~ sometimes a woman will still have her first period after becoming pregnant. (I've never heard of more than one, though.) I think it has something to do with which day in her cycle she becomes pregnant. Also, some women probably mistake spotting for their regular period.

I have heard this, but didn't experience it myself.

    Daphne,

I bled almost every day for the first 2 months of my pregnancy. Because of this we waited until our 3 mo. visit before ANYONE knew we were pregnant. Prior to my pregnancy I had very abnormal periods - lasting 10-14 days at a time and spaced only by about 2 weeks...not fun.

I have heard of women menstruating during their entire pregnancies, although I don't know anyone personnally who has experienced this.

My mom had a "normal" period for 8 months while pregnant with me. She missed January, and I was born , full term in February. She did have a huge uterine tumor along with me though--- and the doctors figured it must have been the reason for the periods. They susupected it caused a hormone imbalance, and there were amazed that she managed to carry me to term. They knew she was pregnant, as they did full abdominal x-rays at about 3 months.

I have heard of this, too. But I did not have it happen to me. That is the way I knew I was pregnant; when I didn't have a period.
