Neck Coolers
I thought these would be really neat to make and sell. Since Daniel plays football, they'd be great for the team. What do you think?
Neck Coolers
<DIV>First make a trip to your local gardening center and get a bottle of</DIV>
<DIV>Moisture Plus made by Schultz. </DIV>
<DIV>This granular product turns to a jelly when you soak it in water. </DIV>
<DIV>Product made to use in flowerpots mixed in the soil to maintain water to the roots longer. </DIV>
<DIV>Cut a strip of fabric 9" x 18" and make a long tube inside out, closing one end before turning right side out. I recommend a dark color as these will mildew</DIV>
<DIV>if not taken care of properly. </DIV>
<DIV>Place 2 tablespoons of the granules in the tube. </DIV>
<DIV>Turn the end of the tube in and sew shut. </DIV>
<DIV>You can add a 9" piece of ribbon to each end of the tube for a tie sewing it to the</DIV>
<DIV>middle of the short ends of the tube. </DIV>
<DIV>Now, evenly distribute the granules along the entire length of the tube and immerse in a large bowl of water. </DIV>
<DIV>Let soak for about an hour. </DIV>
<DIV>Remove and wipe excess water from the tube with a towel and place around your neck. (If you soak it in ice water, it will stay cold for about 2 hours. </DIV>
<DIV>Tie the ends together to keep in place. You can re-immerse in water when it</DIV>
<DIV>gets warm. I use real ice in my cooler and use it to soak the neck</DIV>
<DIV>cooler in for another 15 minutes. This is done for outdoor activities</DIV>
<DIV>like camping, biking, sports or watching sports, mowing the lawn,</DIV>
<DIV>etc.) </DIV>
<DIV>When you are through using this cooler lay it on the counter</DIV>
<DIV>and let it dry out thoroughly and it will look like it did when you</DIV>
<DIV>made it. </DIV>
<DIV>Laying it in the sun will speed up the process and help prevent mildew. </DIV>
<DIV>When you need it again re-soak it. </DIV>
<DIV>These sell on line for $7 and up and I sell them for $3-4 and make money. </DIV>

One of the groups I'm in makes these for the troops in Iraq and we can't keep up with the demand.

What a grand idea! I'm going to Lowe's today and start making these for the team. I bet they could be used as an cold compress as well.

I have a couple of these that I got as favors while playing at golf outings. I think they are great. I put one in a bowl of water in the fridge in the morning of days I play golf, and so they are nice and cool for the nine holes we play. I replenish the coolness at the water coolers on the course.

Whatever you do, don't forget and throw it in the laundry and wash in washing machine then dryer. I did that and it RUINED one of mine. Soaking in a big bowl of water in the fridge worked best to plump it up and keep it cool. You can wear it as a headband or neckband.
