The Expos, our Montreal baseball team has played their last game this evening.
It's a sad day for Montrealers...The Expos have just finished their last game at the Montreal Olympic Stadium....
The players were moved...I saw one with a tear running down his cheek...A few said some Good-byes and thank-yous to the fans..The fans didn't want to leave...some were crying...
The Expos have been bought and are moving to Washington...(Pierre thinks that's where they're going...)
One of the players said he started his career, 36 years ago, with the Expos...imagine...
I was wondering, Sara...has Gabe ever been to an Expo game in montreal?....
I'm not a fan basball, but I have memories of my dad listening the games on the radio, when we were in the car or up north at our camp...I went once to see them when I was a teenager...
Oh well, I thought I'd share this with you...

That is sad. It is an end of an era for the Expos. I hope that another team decides to take their place in the Montreal area so that the fans will have a team in their area. That is what happened in Houston, the Oilers moved to Tennessee and became a new team but another team has moved to Houston so they once again have a football team.

Lucie, I know how they feel. When I was young the St. Louis (Missouri) Cardinals football team got bought and moved to Arizona. We were very upset that they "stole" our team. They didn't steal them really, but we felt betrayed, ya know? Now of course the Rams are in STL (or they were when I last checked LOL) so they have football again, but it was pretty sad before.
On that note, I have no idea where the Rams came from, but I am thinking it was California?

Their single A team is located here and they use the facility for spring training. It will definitely be weird seeing them in a different location and I guess with a new portion of a name.

I was going to ask if any of you ladies in Cananda had ever been to one of there games.
I remember when Charoltte lost the Hornets basketball team. I don't think I've really seen them play since they relocated.

Lucie I know how your feeling. Although we never had a baseball team in Winnipeg, we did lose our NHL team and it was indeed a sad day for all Manitobans.
It really does break my heart that Canadians are losing their hockey and baseball teams. I'm wondering if the Toronto Raptors will be next.

Lucie, it is definitely a sad day for Montrealers, and Ottawans alike. My husband grew up in Montreal and has many fond memories of going to the Expos games. He took me once when I was pregnant with my daughter. I've never been to another national league game even though we lived in Toronto for two years. When I was a teenager, my friends and I followed Gary Carter and the Expos fanatically during our final year of high school. It was one of my most memorable summers!

Hmmm weird. I heard this story a few days ago and was wondering why they're moving? Perhaps the market up there isn't big enough, or not enough people are going to the games? I would imagine Montreal is big enough to support a team. Perhaps its because of the team's record? Who knows. It is sad though. Hopefully another team will come along for you sports fans in Montreal.

I don't have all details of why they are moving...I don't follow baseball, really, but I know it has to do that the assistance to the games have greatly reduced over the years and it has something to do with money and the owners losing money for the past several years...I guess baseball is not as popular as it was...
Kathryn, I have been to one game only in my life, as a teenager.
Thanks for link...I'll check it out...
You know....we are having problems with the Canadian hockey team this year...the owners are having a *lock-out* and there will be no hockey this year at the Molson Center....Some here say that it could be two years without hockey...Imagine! I hope we won't lose our hockey team too....I hear it has do owners and hockey players not argreeing on the salaries...
