Question how quickly are u affected by 2ndhand smoke?

Bruce and I have lived together two years - some mornings when I wake up I can't even see in our room cuz it is so cloudy with cigarette smoke. Lately I have been wheezing  and snoring (last few months) Do you think that his smoking could already be affecting me? When I was little my mom and dad would smoke in the car with the windows rolled up and I would throw up - the doctor told my mom that I was having an allergic reaction - but evidentally I grew out of it. I am worried that if this is whats bothering me then it is probably taking a harder tole on the kids? Is there anything I can do to keep it from bothering them (Bruce will NOT quit - he has been smoking since he was seven years old - with his dad! :surprise: Imagine letting your child do that!!)

Wow, how about designating a smoking area? Outside would be best, but I know the winter is upon us, so how about just one room in the house and NOT your bedroom? HTH and he is willing to do it, especially for the children.

Kimmee, yes I think it could be the culprit.
DH smokes outside. He is not allowed nor does he want to smoke in the house. I quit back in December after smoking for 24 years, he quit for a couple months then the stress of his job (so he says) made him start back.

DS is alergic to cigarette smoke and has been all his life. So that is the reason DH won't smoke indoors.

Hope ya'll can come to a happy medium.

It affects me immediately. I have chronic sinus problems from living with my chain smoking mom. My dh smokes but only outside and with the window down in the car. I can't stand to be in it for anytime at all.

I'm allergic to it so it gets me right away. If I or someone else has been in a smoke filled room and the smell gets in our clothing it just makes me sick.

I am 1 of 7 kids. I am the only one that does not smoke. I am the only one with asthma. they all smoke like crazy. I have problems just being around some one who smokes. Also both my parents smoked. Both passed away of dieases caused by smoking. I won't care if it got freezing outside.... Take it out of the house. Cause even if its in one room it does excape to other parts of the house. Fern
Yes I'm out of my mind. It's a dark and scary place in there.

I hate cigarette smoke. Makes me feel sick to my stomach. We don't allow anyone to smoke in the house or in our vehicles.
Jayme has asthma but even before she was born we didn't allow smoking in the house. Steve doesn't smoke either.

My mother smokes and I hate going to her house..it smells so badly of smoke. Hard to even breathe in there.

Second hand smoke makes both me and dd sick immediately. If we go into a store where someone has been smoking we start to cough and wheeze. Just can't stand it at all.

I think you should fix up Bruce a "Manly" smoking area - outside.

Yes, Kimme, I think that could be your problem.    When we cleaned DFIL's house after he passed away, the tobacco juice literally ran down the walls and windows when we'd spray cleaner on them.  That stuff stays in the air, the walls, etc. and can affect people for years.

I used to smoke. I quit and I can't stand the smell. It actually makes me ill. From what I read about 2nd hand smoke -- it should be avoided at all costs. Maybe he can smoke outside or in the basement. For the good of the kiddos.

DH and I are both ex smokers and the smoke really, really bothers us now! DH's Mom's BF smoked in our car a couple of years ago and we have made it rule in our home...no smoking anywhere in the house or car. It is so nasty!
