    I'm a former Special Education teacher and the mother of a child with Attention Deficit Syndrome. I always, always urged the parents of my students that we diagnosed with ADHD to please look into all other alternatives before going for the medications. With one of my students and with my own son we found that having a cup of coffee helped them to settle down and be able to concentrate. The stimulant from the caffiene helped to calm them so they could concentrate. We later brought my oldest son and his brothers home to homeschool them and without all the distractions, my oldest son has just flourished! Medications had been suggested for him but my husband and I knew too much about the dangers of them to ever allow them to be used on our child.
