Anyone ever hear of strep rash???
My grandson just had step throat and he broke out in a rash under his arms and on other areas....it is very itchy and the doctor told dd that it is strep rash from the strep still being in his body...so she put him on a stronger course of antibiotics, benedryl, and he has to take aveeno baths and be rubbed down with aveeno lotion...I have had strep many times as have both my dd's and we never had this happen or have I ever heard of it till now.....anyone ever have this or hear of it?????

DD #2 fought strep 8 times last year. We dealt with strep rash and once she had it and the only symptom was a really bad head ache.

It's pretty common. I got it as a child. And it's also common with the flu.

Alex gets strep rash every year. When she was little that is the only way she ever had strep. It mostly comes on just the torso.

Our 22 year son got it last year --it showed up about 1 or 2 weeks after he had strep ---never had heard of it --it started on his torso ---went to dr ---put him on drugs ---didn't get better - went back to dr --took biopsy --$500 later --that's what it was ---but still he had it for probably 3 -4 months total. The thing that helped it the most was sunshine. Ultimately the rash was everywhere, face, arms, necks, etc. What a pain it was.

My youngest son has strep throat right now and is taking Amoxicillin. He has several little pimple-like spots, one by his nose and a few on the underside of his chin. At first I thought the one by his nose WAS a pimple, but then the others popped up and they don't hurt. The spots were there before he started the Amoxicillin. Has anybody seen something like this, and do so you think they are related to the strep?

Pip - I would watch it --our son's started on his face - i forgot and said his torso --but I remember now they started on his face first -and they didn't itch or hurt or anything. But there's really not much they can do ---you'll know soon enough when they start to spread everywhere!!

not to freak you out, but that's how chicken pox started on me. i was feeling sick and went to the doc. thought i just had a virus or something and sent me home. couple hours later i got one "pimple" on my chin, then an hour later i had 2 more on my neck and chin.
your son's are probably related to the strep, but just something to look out for next time he gets sick with something other than strep and has little bumps pop up.
i was 21 or 22 when i got chicken pox.wife to carl

He's had something called musculum contagiosum in the past and they looked a little like those kind of lesions, so I wondered if the virus could still be in his system. i don't know. He's done with the antibiotic now and seems better on the whole, but a couple of the spots are still there. Guess I'll just watch him.

Here is some medical literature on it..........
It is not the dreaded disease of the past but should be treated as it can result in complications that include meningitis....
It's not just a rash......... It's scarlet fever.........
