Question Anyone else have to go to track meets?

How many other lucky Villagers have to go sit and watch those long, long track meets? Chris is running track again this year. Last night I actually worked the track meet instead of sit in the bleachers. It is more exciting to work it. So if you get the chance to volunteer, I would.

Chris runs the 2400 meter (1 mile and a 1/2) and the 1600 meter (1 mile). He came in 4th in the 2400 meter and 3rd in the 1600 meter. I thought he did well with the schools they were up against. There was one boy from another school that they might as well handed 1st place to in every event he ran because there was no way anyone could keep up with him! He was good!

My feet and back do hurt though from standing out there all night, but I enjoyed being down on the track with the kids. I also got a free t-shirt and meal. I really just like being on the field after the race to give my son a hug.

my son Chris is also running track. Although he does the long jump and triple jump. He has run the hurdles too, and also pole vault. I enjoy watching him run more than I do jump, but I also like to see him happy when he does a great jump. Our season starts on Monday, and the first meet is on Friday. It can be really long and boring but I do try to be there for him. This will be the first season that my dh gets to see him doing varsity track so it should be neat. Good luck to your son this season.

Well my ds is 12 and this will be his first year in track. Oh how I remember how long those darn things are!
His first official track meet isn't until April -- he's so excited that I'm hoping he does well for himself!

I used to go to them. All three of my kiddos ran track and field and cross country. Enjoy these days though because before you know it they will be grown and flown and you will miss these days.

I used to go to every one for about 10 yrs. or so. Both of our dd's were on the track teams. We used to sit out when the wind was blowing so hard I thought for sure I'd be bald headed after the meet Dd #1 went to the State meet in the discuss and dd#2 made it to regional in the sprint relay. #2 was actually most valuable girl's track athlete a couple of years in a row and then she had to skip the last 2 years b/c she was recovering from ACL knee surgeries.
