I am a low carb sucess story. 40+ pounds down over almost 2 years (20 months). I am 60 pounds down from my heviest weight. After 5 children I am less than 10 pounds from where I was before children! I can fit a dress that hubby bought me the christmas we got married
I just cut out alot of sugar and pasta and potatoes. Added more fresh veggies and fruit and excersized. I still eat bread, but usually only with sandwiches. I feel great and I am not tired all the time anymore! I also usually do tae-bo a few times a week. I don't want to lose anymore weight now, just tone up my trouble spots. I am waiting for the doc to release me from surgery to start light weights and excercise more than walking

I hope you find what works for you! Let us support you and encourage you! Little changes make a big difference!

For me, I just decided to do something about it! I thought if other people can so can I! I started walking, drinking more water, switched to diet sodas. I really didn't put myself on a diet. I just tried to eat a little less. I started paying attention to what I ate, and how it made me feel. If I want cake I eat it, but just a smaller amount and I have found that I don't want it that much. I have been losing weight ever since! Once you start walking, you will see results! For me, once I started seeing results that really got me motivated! And to be honest I could tell a difference immediately! Anyway, I'm not sitting back wishing I could be in a smaller size, I AM!! You deserve it!! Go for it! Good luck!

Eating well and lots of hard work outdoors in the garden and on the property (lots of sweating involved, but it's work I enjoy).

I am going to sound really vain, but what got me started losing was the fact that my husband has lost 60 pounds since October!! I couldn't let him walk around looking all HOT with me looking the way I did! Also we are going to Thunder Beach April 29th. Its a bike weekend in Panama City. All the bikers will be there, all the skinny women in halters and bathing suits, you get the picture. I was NOT going to embarrass myself by having flab hanging out all over the place! I guess it takes the idea of being MORTIFIED by my flab to motivate me to get it off!

I started right after Christmas and I've lost 24 pounds so far! I would like to lose 10 more before Thunderbeach. I haven't followed any particular plan. I've cut out junk food and sodas. I've cut my normal portions in half and drink lots of water. I eat pretty much whatever I want, just half as much as I used to.

    Good luck!

I wanted to be healthy more than I wanted the calories. I figure it's an area I truly can control in my life, so it was time to eat more sensibly and balanced.

It's important to me to be a good role model for my kids. If I'm not eating balanced, what makes me think I can teach it to them?

Not that others don't find it important to be good role models to their kids. I'm just saying this is what motivated me.

I don't ever want to see another fat picture of me again.

Spring is always a good motivator for me in almost all areas of my life too. There's just something so energizing about a "fresh start".

My motivation? My boys! I didn't have the energy at times to get outside and do what they wanted. Of course, I went outside. I just didn't play basketball, baseball, etc. I would just go out to do what needed to be done....water plants/trees, feed pets, etc. Now I make sure to go out at least 3 times a week and play basketball with the boys. It has been so much fun. I just hope they enjoy the memories as much as I have enjoyed their motivation.

I didn't change alot of what I ate. I just changed how much. I cut back alot. I don't drink anything but water, unless we go out to eat. Then I see it as a treat and one will not kill me. I also didn't give up sweets completely. I just don't eat them every day or big amounts. Maybe a cookie instead of 5 or 6. A small piece of cake or pie instead of a big one. It all came down to portion sizes. I eat much healthier now than I ever did. I know when to stop. I don't force myself to keep eating.

Another motivator has been people I haven't seen in a while telling me they notice the difference in my weight and attitude. I think it changed with the weight loss.

I know you can do it! You just have to start with one thing. Then add others. Maybe start with portion sizes. Drink a big glass of water before each meal and this will help cut down your appetite. Then add some exercise and boom....you have lost your weight!
