Is there anyone else besides me who has poor eyesight?
I have been wearing glasses since I was about 7 yrs. old. It seems like everytime I go to the eye doctor, my visions has decreaed. I haven't been to an eye doctor in about 5yrs. because I hate hearing that my visoin has got worse since the last visit. I'm now 25 and vmy vision is poor when I'm NOT wearing my glasses. My parents drive me to places where I'm not comfortable driving to wherever I need to go. I'm scared that I' might be going blind and nobody will be there to take care of me when my parents' pass away. I have other mild disabilities.
I do take supplements that claim to be good for vision like Occu-Guard, Bilberry and Eyebright, but I don't know how effective they are. I also drink Carrot Juice.
Do eye exercises work? If they do, is there any books or websites you recommend?

I have been nearsighted since age 8 or 9. I started out only needing my glasses for distance, but by the time I was in college I went to contact lenses as I needed to actually be able to see ALL the time! When I hit my 40's I needed bifocals.......couldn't see at a distance, and couldn't focus on close-up anymore either. I have had nice transitional bifocals for a few years now (took a week for my eyes to adjust to them). I think the last time I was checked I had 20/400 vision in my worst eye (the right??) uncorrected, but both are correctable to nearly 20/20. I think I need another exam, it's been 4-5 years and the bifocals don't seem to be doing as good a job lately! I can see ok close up and medium distance when I get up in the morning, but as the day goes on I notice the inability to switch from close to far unless I have glasses on. Such is life. I have no expectation that things will get better, only worse, but my eyes are still correctable.
I took a supplement with lutein a while back....not sure if it helped. I do take a multivitamin. I have heard there are exercises to strengthen the muscles that focus the eyes, but I have never been highly motivated to try such a thing (too lazy). You might benefit from it as you are still young!

I too cannot see well without my glasses, now that I'm older though my vision isn't changing as much. You will be amazed at all the changes in glass lenses in just the past five years! My hubby used to wear"coke bottle" lenses now his are thinner than mine.
I think it's time for you to go see an opthomologist & get some answers. Also time for some new glasses. Ignoring the problem won't make it go away but getting answers from a specialist can put your mind at rest .
Save those pennies & go for it!!!We'll cheer you on if you need us to.

I've worn glasses since I was small as well. I've worn them so long that they are like a part of me now. I can't see well at all without them.

I wear contacts, and without them I can't see as far as my own wrist! I tell people that my vision is something like looking at the world through waxed paper. I go to the eye doctor every year, and every year my vision is worse, but, there's nothing to be done about it but get stronger lenses. I started in contacts sixteen (or more?) years ago, and couldn't wear them then, but then about seven years ago I tried again and I was amazed at how much they had changed in those years-- easier to wear, more comfortable, and easier to take care of. I love my contacts!

quite nearsighted, I am afraid, since 18- been wearing contacts since I was 21- (now 39). I have been considering getting laser surgery done, but I am still unsure about how safe it is, and of course, the cost is a bit prohibitive-
I am not aware of any product that will improve your eyesight, but it sounds like you are trying to do all the right things- I still recommend a thorough exam though- an adjustment to your prescription might make all the difference in how you "view" the world!

Another one here!
I too have been wearing glasses since I was 7 for nearsightedness. At the age of 36 I had to get bifocals, lol Thank goodness for no lines! Took a bit to get used to them and I too am due for new glasses.
Unlike older people that just need bifocals and 'stretch' thier arms to read, I can't see anything past about 2" in front of my nose.
And yes, my prescription gets stronger every time too. I'm betting I need trifocals this time around.

Slightly nearsighted in my right eye -- the opthalmologist says the right eye is shaped like an American football too! But I have also had to wear reading glasses for 4 years now -- oh, the joys of getting more mature!

I've been wearing glasses since I was little too. I'm very nearsighted. I used to wear contacts when I was a teenager but they feel like a hassle these days. My glasses are really ugly
but they work!
DH is always moving my glasses after I go to sleep. I can't seem to make him understand that I need my glasses to find my glasses, if that makes sense. If he leaves early in the morning, I'm stuck wandering around feeling for them!

I've worn glasses since 3rd grade, contacts since 8th grade. 3 months ago I got Lasik eye surgery and I love it. I can wake up and see the clock - I can just fall asleep instead of taking contacts out, I can swim and not worry, I love it so much. It cost alot but it was worth it in my book and it will pay for itself in 3 years by not having to get exams, buy contacts, ect.
