Suspicious mole

My dd1 & I are both very fair skinned with blue eyes. I have lots of moles & freckles. She has one mole on her ankle and one on the top of her head. Tonight I noticed the one on her head looked different. It has a raised center with asymetrical edges. We are calling her pediatrician tomorrow to see if she needs anything done.

I should probably have had a skin screening before now myself but because we pay for our own health care I've been putting it off. Anyone have experience with this type of thing? I'm hoping it's no big deal, after all she's only 3 and she's never been sunburned, but still I'm concerned. Thanks for listening.

generally melanomas have blotchy colouring and are not one solid colour throughout. We are all very fair skinned too. I have freckles and we were all blonde when we were younger. My son had a suspicious mole but it turned out ok when we had it checked. I hope the same happens with your DD.

I had one that did turn out to be a cancerou kind, but it was called squanous cells and is not dangerous, but I did have it remoned. Mine was from year of sun damage, it was on my forehead.
