Been Walking
Well, since I got the iPod, I've been doing what I said I was going to do, and have been waking up every morning at 5:00 and walking around the neighborhood. Not too, too long because I need to be in the shower by 5:50 to get everyone out on time, but still, it's been absolutely rejuvenating. I can feel the burn in my butt and thighs all day long, which was the goal. I took today, Saturday, off, but may get up on Sunday. I really am enjoying it.

Amy. That's so awesome. I keep telling myself I could wake up nice and early and walk too. I wish I could find a walking buddy, but need to just bite the bullet and get walking.
I'm embarrassed to say that I also have a gym membership through Gabe's job and I haven't gone.
They have an indoor track I could use too.
I've maintained my weightloss, but haven't dropped the remaining weight I want to lose and well....I swear laziness is why. I just can't seem to get that motivational kick.
I think it's just awesome that you are motivated to walk on your own. To me that's just a huge thing.
How do you like the ipod? Would you mind sharing how costly it is? I am wondering if that would help motivate me.

It's funny, because part of why I like walking is because it IS alone time. It is, literally, the only minutes of my day in which I am totally alone. A feeling I'm sure everyone here can relate to.
I'm loving the iPod. I'm serious...Again, I think that's part of the reason I'm getting up because it is the only time in my day that I get to listen to my music.
I don't mind sharing the cost. I bought a silver mini-iPod which was $299. (Way more than I usually spend on anything, but I used the $100 I got from chaperoning the DC trip and then the other $100 was my Mother's Day gift from Rob and the kids...very nice gift!)
I bet if you look around you could find them on sale for cheaper. My Blog: http://amysreallife.com

I think it's great! Once baby is sleeping better in the mornings, I am wondering if I couldn't slip out while DH is still home before he gets up for work.
I was thinking of starting a new routine in the mornings...i have all these exersize items and never use them (well not since getting pregnant eleven months or so ago.) I have a stationary bike, yoga dvd and so on. I need to get on it!
You might have given me the inspiration I needed! Thanks!

I am trying to walk more myself and I am also guilty of having a membership to Curves and not going for over a year! Just started going back this last week and I am feeling better than I have in a very long time.

Wow, good for you Amy
I am often up that early too; I should go walking--though I don't know why, but I hate just walking outside. I need a destination or something, I don't know lol
I've got to get back on my treadmill and doing my WATP tapes.

Well, just a tip...
It's Sunday and Patrick woke up when I did, so I thought I'd take him with me. Then, I had the bright idea to lengthen the walk since I had more time. Now, you must realize, my street is called Tower Hill Road, because we are at the top of an enormously steep hill. Seriously, a long, winding, steep hill.
The hill comes at the end of the walk, because I wind my way down, through the neighborhood on other streets, then end up at the bottom of the hill and walk up it to get home. Well, adding Patrick's 25 pounds and a stroller? Yeah, almost killed me this morning. We made it, but just barely. Talk about feel the burn!
I love Patrick, but I think I'll continue to go solo on the walks from now on.

I agree with you all who enjoy the ALONE time while walking. It is a great indulgence. Sometimes one of my kids will come along and that is good too because we hardly ever have solo time with each other and on the walks we can have some good talks.
Unfortunately I cannot make myself walk early in the morning -- we live in a pretty rural area and I can't get past feeling like I'm vulnerable in the early a.m. Probably all in my head.....

That's great! I love to walk, although I don't do near enough of it. My ultimate goal is to go on a walking tour of Scotland.
I go for walks at lunch when I have the time. I did 20 minutes today, but I forgot my tennis shoes, so my feet HURT now.
I won't be forgetting them again!
