Hello everyone,

Has anyone here have any experience with Health Savings Accounts (HSAs)? I would love to hear from someone's personal experience (or even second-hand) whether they are user-friendly or just a pain in the butt.

I am 30 years old, in excellent health, and work for a small company who pays $225 a month toward my health insurance.

My boss would be willing to pay the same $225 into an HSA. I am thinking, I would love it if this $225 could build up instead of just going largely unused every month. I'm not going to jump in without researching it though, because in the event of a true medical emergency, I don't want to find that there is too much red tape involved or that the network of doctors is inadequate.

If anyone hasn't heard what HSA's are about, you have to take out a high deductible health insurance policy (1,000 - 2,500 deductible) and can contribute money tax-exempt into your Health Savings Account -- a banking account from which you can pay "qualified" medical expenses.

It is so beautiful on paper: you get rewarded for taking good care of your health. Also, it takes you out of the "pool" of insured people, so that your health insurance premiums don't wind up subsidizing people who don't take care of their health.

Can anyone help? It would be greatly appreciated!
