This is getting ridiculous - its gotta come OFF
I took a look at myself over the weekend and I'm not liking what I see. I need to get this weight OFF.
Its not healthy
I don't like how I look
My b/p stays up
There is a good risk of sugar diabetis (its in the family)
Beginning NOW I'm determined to lose 85 lbs. by June 30/06. Thats not my final goal weight though. Its only my goal over the next year. If I lose more, great!!
I'm always using the following excuses:
healthy food costs way more
fruit is expensive
Pepsi tastes so good during hot weather - even cold weather
I like sitting in front of the computer
I don't like excersise
From NOW ON - my 5 mottos each day will be:
healthy food is way better for me
Fruit is bought in season and on sale is not too expensive
Pepsi isn't good for me - water is
I'd rather be doing something than sitting in front of the computer
I'll learn to enjoy excersis
My first small goal is 10% of the 85 lb. Thats 8.5 lbs to be lost by July 4th. And I will journal daily my weight loss journey.
I'm determined to get it off and keep it off.
Anyone want to come along with me and start over, set some goals and work towards 10% off by a specific date.

I'm with you. I've been needing a kick in the butt. I'm trying very hard to find the motivation to walk daily. If I wake up super early, I can walk alone. If I want we could walk as a family, but my walk wouldn't be as long. I can also head out alone anytime after dinner. I've just got to get moving instead sitting.

You can do it!
I use a computer program called Diet Power. It cost me $50 and was my requested birthday gift a few years ago. After DD was born, I stopped using it, but now I am using it again and have lost 15 pounds. It is good if you are like me and are really anal- you have to weigh yourself every day or so and log very single thing you eat for it to work, but as long as you are honest with it and set a reasonable goal, it is guaranteed to work. (It calculates your metabolism based on what info you put into it, which is why you need to be completely honest.)
Anyway, I just thought I would share that. I have had great luck with that and hav been thinking about sharing it here. I lost 30 lbs using it last time I was trying to lose weight. (And no, it is not the program's fault I gained the weight back- it was a pregnancy, panic disorder, and medication that helped with that.)

And I want to add that I think you get a free trial if you are interested. Maybe you could try it (if it interests you in the least) to see how you do with you 10% by July 4th goal.
Good luck!!!!

Yes!! I want to join in and get this weight off too!! I would love to be down 85 pounds by 6/06
I have done fairly well with eating this week, and have been motivated until today...I am just worn out...but no excuses
I did not do any exercise other than walking to water my outside plants...one qt of water at a time.
Speaking of water...I only got one qt in today instead of the usual 2

I have been struggling lately and need a good kick in the butt too! I went to the doctor last week (another bladder infection probably due to all he caffiene in the pepsi I have been drinking!!) and when I stepped on the scale I almost had a heart attack.....good thing I was at the doctor office!
I have an excuse for everything and need to get with it and just do it......no more talk..........I need to just take it a day at a time and make sure I am doing the best for me that I can!

CJ, you can do it. We are here to encourage you! Its a huge step to decide it is TIME to do something and that you WANT to do it! And I think your goal of losing 85 lbs in a year is great --- you are giving yourself plenty of time!
I'm struggling to get beyond 13 pounds lost --- for some reason I'm stuck there. So I know and understand that this journey is a struggle. But with the support from everyone here, I think we can all have a better chance at accomplishing our goals.
Kimberly, your computer program sounds intriguing. I don't think I could handle the frequent weigh-ins -- my scale is too fickle and sends me into deep depression when it doesn't budge. But it sounds like a good way to keep yourself accountable --- not much opportunity to CHEAT (one of my downfalls).
I have been finding that gardening (hoeing, raking, digging) has been tremendous exercise for me. And I walk --- 1 3/4 miles at a time just because that is the distance from our house to the end of the road and back. I don't always walk every day and I need to be more dedicated that way.
I have a goal of seeing my mother the first week in August -- the last time I saw her she said "Are you settled in at this weight now?" Ack! I hope not! So I'd like to whittle off as much as possible in the next 6 weeks. Realistically that will be another 6 - 8 lbs, but I'd like it to be 15! We'll see. I'm determined!
Everybody hang in there!~~Jean~~

Jean, I think the program actually only requires that you weigh-in once a week (although you need to input your food at least every three days), but the more frequently you do it, the more precisely the program can calculate your metabolism, and the better your chances of success are, provided you have an accurate scale. I went out and bought myself a new bathroom scale and a new kitchen scale when I started using it, and I have had great results.
My program is several years old, so I ordered the trial again. I downloaded the program last time, because it was cheaper, but now they are the same price, so I opted for the CD. If the updated version is nicer, I may spring for it in a few months. (I guess I'll have to work an extra weekend!)
We can all do this!!!

You can do it CJ! We are all right here with you trying to do the same thing.
I believe you will accomplish your goal because you are determined. I know when I set my mind to it, just as you did, it finally started working for me. The ice cold water will taste alot better than pepsi once you get used to it. It just takes time. If you don't like drinking just plain water, add a little lemon juice to it for flavor.

I'm with you CJ!
I don't have a lot of weight to lose. Mostly just out of shape and what an unappealing shape it's turning out to be.
My biggest problem is I've neglected my health for so long. I'm starting to feel my age and I don't like it.
I think the goals you've set are great. I've just started to set some goals for me. This week I started walking, I don't know about liking it yet, the first night I was attacked by mosquitoes!
Maybe have a reward for yourself when you hit your first weight loss goal. I promised myself if I can walk for a month I will splurg (hopefully on clearance at Target) on a pair of those nylon type exercise pants (dd calls them swishy pants).
Good luck and I'll be cheering you on!

I want to join! I am 5'4 and size 10. I don't have a scale in my house so I would like to lose according to inches. As soon as I get my measurements I will post them and my progress. My biggest problem is getting moving. And I need some motivation (other than having to buy new pants).
