Talking The DIY spa adventure! or how I foamed at the mouth and scared dh!

OK this is a partner to my Living with Dignity thread. Anyone who wants can join the party.

It's a girls pj party and its that name when it's on the web not "real life" except that it is, it's just in our different homes.

Cyber PJ party/spa week. that's it.

OK so I was reading about wrinkles and so forth, in the Blue Eyeshadow is illegal lady's OTHER book called Don't go to the cosmetic counter without me.

Paula Begoun (my memory just takes a moment, it has grab it's walker and totter over to the mental file cabinet before handing over the word or name).

And I bought a jar of the cheapest alpha hydroxy acid enriched face cream that she recommended last spring. from Ponds.

I think it is helping. But don't get it in the eyes or near them, it stings (and I worry about going blind).

But it's working on my face.

OH and remember OPRAH on not aging. OK I picked up 2 tips that I'm using.

1 is bleach your teeth and

2 is if you got estrogen cream stick it on your face. (for those of us whose ovaries are retired, that is prescription for the nether regions if they get dry and so forth) well I have an estrogen patch, not cream, AND I suspect it would be consided too weird if I stuck the patch on my face so next grocery day this is my plan B.

    Plan B:
failing the estrogen cream Prep H is supposed to work marvels on those little broken red blood vessels around the nose and anywhere else that redness is a problem.

If it doesn't take years off your face, you can always use it the way the manufacturer recommends and this is a good thing too!

Back to tooth whitening. This is also supposed to take years off your looks, so I got Colgates brush on at night version called Simply White Nights or some such name.

The first night I tried it, I brushed it on like they said, and was amazed not by the whitening power but by the way the stuff turned into a foamy gluey mess on my teeth and gums.

Keeping my lips back in a grimace of fear, I put my head round the corner of the bedroom and when dh fell back off the ceiling, I said "look honey, isn't this weird?"

He definitely agreed. I gingerly let my lips cover my teeth and then found out that like the wrinkle cream it stings a bit.

But beauty and it's pursuits are important to me so I perservered for one more night.

then I gave it up for a few months.

Till last month I was dejunking the bathroom drawer and it came to me in a flash, I need to use this up and get my money's worth.

So that night I painted it on my electric toothbrush and brushed with it.

No stinging, no weird bubbly gluey mess, and my teeth looked whiter in the morning.

I've been doing it after brushing my teeth in the morning now on days when I remember it (not every day) and my teeth are definitely turning whiter.

I plan to stop just before they turn flourescent and I did check with my dentist who okayed this.

And that is it from the front lines of beauty!

    for today.

Margery, when you run out of the face gunk, you can always pull your hair back into a REALLY tight pony tail, this "takes up the slack" in one's face

The side effect (sadly) is that you will end up with "traction alopecia" but the "Wind Tunnel look" sure looks good until your forehead gets too high & shiny

What ever it is your taking, can I have some

    Default Just coffee!

LOL sure, but all it is is coffee, with sugar free sugar in it

I'll have to consider that pony tail thought of yours! Clever girl!!!!

I just had one of my sideways moments where it all struck me funny and I had to share.

the foam at the mouth really happened. And it startled dh and me although I exaggerated slightly the effect of seeing it for the first time on dh.

And I really am planning prep H for my red spots on my face, but not till payday because there's no sense throwing caution to the winds and spending money on beauty products before I plan my menus and buy the toilet paper and broccoli.
