Default I have finally found a doctor!

Hooray! I have been through 3 doctors prior to this. It seemed that, only one had any personality and was pleasant and listened to me to any degree. But, I never seemed to get anywhere with how I was feeling in dealing with this depression etc.

So, I tried a new physician. She and her husband are in independent practice - not a large hospital owned group. I was leery when I went today, but when she came in she took me to her office first. We spent at least 30 minutes there discussing past history, family history, medication issues and current concerns! She agreed to change my anti-depressant from Effexor (which I hate) to Lexapro. She also told me that if this doesn't work the way we want it to we'll keep trying until we get it right. We also discussed blood pressure medication. She did my annual Pap test saving me a second $20 co=pay. She took blood for a complete panel and gave me an EKG and a Tetanus shot which was out.

She set my up for a mammogram and another appointment in a month. I am so, so happy I tried her!

Hope she continues to "be the one" for you Cheryl. It's important to have a good rapport with your dr.

So happy you have found a doctor that you can be comfortable with.

My 19 year old daughter will not choose one. She no longer can go to her pediatrican and wants a doctor that meets her criteria. Listen to this: she wants a female, not too hard to come by these days but now she wants this female doctor to be slightly overweight because she is. (she will settle for a doctor that has been overweight and lost it) She also would like this woman to have large breasts (dd has triple d's and does not want breast reduction until after she has had children) by the way is she not close to getting married never mind having kids. That's it, she is not worried about experience or medical degrees or anything else people think about when selecting a doctor. She will not go to mine for he is after all just a man. I have been trying to get her to select one and she has been going to walk in centers for colds and the like. This kid is going to make me crazy.

I can hear the phone call now "Hi, I'm wondering if Dr. X is currently accepting patients, and is a large busted woman?"
