Flu-Shot?
I got the flu-shot yesterday. My school district was offering it for $20. I was wary, but with my asthma and pregnancy, both my OB and my GP strongly recommended that I get it. I went ahead and did it because I actually got the flu last year and I absolutely cannot imagine getting it while pregnant and not being able to take anything for it.
Is/did anyone else get the shot or are you considering it?My Blog: http://amysreallife.wordpress.com

I was supposed to get one today....but I have a nasty upper-respiratory thing going on, so I didn't go. They *CLAIM* that you can get the shot when you have a mild cold BUT I have heard of way too many people getting it when they had a cold and then getting REALLY sick!
Two years ago, my grandma had a little cold, but still went to the the flu shot because she was assured that it would be harmless...well, a week later she had a raging case of the flu.
I'm going to get mine as soon as I get better.

I usually get one every year because I work in a hospital. I skipped last year because the supplies were so short that I felt that their were others who needed it much worse than I did. I will get one this year though since supplies are back to a normal level. They should be giving them at work in the next couple of weeks. They are free to hospital employees with direct patient contact.

Nope, I'm not getting one. I work at a school too, but I have no interest in getting the shot. I got the 24 hour flu last year, but I rarely get sick. I use a lot of homeopathy and natural remedies.

I'm going in for a checkup in a couple of weeks; I'll get it then. Hopefully, just one copay for the checkup and shot.

me. dh and I are both scheduled.
btw if you are sick, it reduces your ability to respond by creating immunity to what's in the flu shot, so I'm in agreement, if ill, don't get it, reschedule if you want it.

Dh will be getting one at school. They only charge $5. And Dh can not afford to get sick and miss a single day. Several students got sick last year and missed a week. They all failed several courses!

I do not plan on getting one. My OB hasn't even mentioned it. The only way I would consider it is if he did and then he and I would have a lengthy talk about it, plus the shot would absolutely have to be mercury-free.

We won't be getting the shots, just never have.

DH and I both plan to get one. Jacob won't be able to get one this year, at least until he is 6 months (that will be Jan. ) so we will get one to help prevent him from getting sick.
