Has anyone had this happen?

My oldest son had an accident on Monday. He had the top tip of his left middle finger cut off. It goes from under his fingernail to just above the first knuckle. We took him to the medical center and they said all they could do was bandage it up and send him home. (We couldn't find the part that got cut off.) They said since it was the fleashy part of the finger it might grow back. I don't see how it could. So my question is: Has this ever happened to you or someone you know? I would really appreciate hearing from you. This has worried me a lot.

I'm so sorry to hear of your son's accident! When my second oldest son was five years old, he had a similar accident. He had a car door accidentally shut on his thumb. It took off his fingernail (sorry to be graphic) and you could see the bone.

The E.R. Doc said it would take off about a 1/4 inch of his thumb. He had numerous visits to a plastic surgeon . At the last visit, I was pleased when the Dr. said the finger had 'spontaneously' regenerated.

My family and several church members had prayed there would be no significant damage.

I pray your son will suffer no effects from this accident.

Sorry to hear of your Son's Accident I have sliced the skin off my big toe and it is growing back now!! So I am not sure about his finger but I do know that My Big Right Toe where I sliced the skin off by accident is growing back but slowely but surely !!
