Anyone dealing w/Medicare RX?
I am so frustrated!!!! I just spent 1/2 an hour and 14 phone calls trying to get a trained representative to tell me why the new insurance co. for Medicare Rx just denied all my scripts! $1500 worth of prescriptions!!!!
It is soooo insane...I chose a very reputable insurance carrier and had assistance to make sure everything was covered and they denied all but one script, and then that one they told me the copay was more than it said in my sign-up agreement!
Now to get hold of anyone that knows anything (aka: trained rep) instead of an "overflow operator" is just impossible!
I am young and I can handle dealing with this insanity (ok, maybe not well; one of the meds IS and anti-anxiety med!), but I really feel for the elderly who don't have the ability to understand or the tenacity to fight for themselves!
I had to stay up late, this afternoon the overflow operators all said to try back late at night, and still the 14 overflow operators before getting a person who could tell me anything....OY!
The woman SAID everything should be updated by tomorrow...so try again...the pharmacy is going to love me...
And I had hoped with dso off tonight I MIGHT get a good night's sleep!
(sleep meds are on the list too)
Thanks for letting me

Sorry you are having to deal with the mess. I finally got Medicare but according to SS I bring in too much to qualify for the perscription plans. It's a good thing I have that covered through where I used to work.

Re: Anyone dealing w/Medicare RX?
It all sounds so confusing I'm not sure anyone could understand it. I'm not sure how this is Medicare covering prescriptions.
My elderly parents usually try to keep the kids out of their business but they did talk to me a little bit about this. My dad only takes one med and it is covered by the VA (he is a WWII vet). My mom doesn't take anything right now, but has to go ahead and choose a plan or be penalized if she needs it later. It is hard for her to choose and pay for a plan now when she doesn't need it and has no way of knowing which plan would be best if her situation changes.
Leave it to the Fed to turn this into a big mess.

Angie..thanks for your thoughts. I have been dealing with Medicare almost 2 years now, and made too much for state Medicaid to pick up my scripts without a large spend down. It was killing us financially, so I was looking forward to walking in the pharmacy and coming out with all my meds for a simple $28 this month....oh, how wrong I was! LOL We're not married and I was self-employed previously, so I had no coverage to carry over unfortunately...
Dina...that is even worse...to chose without any medications...all the plans are different and there are soooo many...a lot of them don't cover ALL the meds one might need...and to try to figure that out with nothing to go by...your poor mom!
I'm only 41 and am considered fairly intelligent, but I couldn't figure it out...I had to go see a benefits specialist at my dr's office to make sure everything would work for me.
I tell ya, dso and I talk about getting married just to get his insurance coverage! (OK, so not JUST for that reason, but it is one of them!!)

Is anyone having FUN yet????
I finally signed us up on Dec. 29th.
What a pain...hard to understand...The man I spoke to was off the wall.
I must have had to repeat myself at least 12 times & then had to spell almost every word!!! Man...what imcompetents!!!!
I asked what plan he would reccommend & he gave me one that would cost a fortune...I told him that & he said..."well, what would you suggest? " In my booklet on Medicare I picked one & he said " Wow yeah...that sounds good"
Wow...Medicare needs some help with their phone people...big time.

Liz, thanks for confirming it's not just me...I get a little paranoid sometimes thinking I'm the problem and just "don't get it"!
It is insane, and now I'm trying to pick up scripts and they say I'm not covered...lol
Just another day in paradise
