    Default Natural Remedies for Rosacea

    Rosacea poses no serious health risk, but adults with this condition often develop low self-esteem due to the radical negative changes in their appearance. They don't understand why their skin suddenly turns red, bumpy, and blotchy.
    In the beginning stages of rosacea, skin around the nose and on the chin, forehead, and cheeks becomes inflamed and feels warm to the touch. Soon the symptoms progress to red bumps that look like pimples, dilated blood vessels near the surface of the skin, and watery, irritated eyes. Dermatologists and doctors typically prescribe an oral or topical antibiotic - or combination of the two - to combat the disease. But there are also natural ways to help care for skin affected by rosacea. Here are three of them.

    Modify your diet. Eating a diet rich in essential vitamins and minerals, especially foods that contain vitamin A (carrots, green bell pepper, and spinach) can help. Spicy foods, such as salsa, and spices, such as cayenne and paprika, have been known to aggravate rosacea. Also, watch your alcohol intake. If you flush after drinking one glass of wine, reduce intake or avoid it entirely.

    Alter your bathing routine. Use a gentle facial cleanser (sans washcloth) each morning and avoid hot showers, which can cause flushing of the face. Choose fragrance-free skin products that don't sting. Men should use an electric razor instead of a blade, which can scrape and irritate the skin.
