Tell me I'm not just getting old!
A while back (6 months or so) I hurt my hip climbing into a set of stands at a gym. It caused my hip to pop out of joint and every since I have been gimping along like a very old, crippled woman. I started going the chiro. about 3 months ago and have spent more $ than I want to think about BUT the good news is that it's about 70% most of the time. BUT everytime I do something like ride in the car for 30 minutes or more or sit here in the comp. chair for awhile I can't walk good for about an hour! GOSH I HATE this and I really, really hope that this will eventually get better and that I'm not just getting old! How awful it would be to not get any better.....ok, I'm whinning but I've kept this to myself for a long time now.......sniff. Anyone else have these aches and pains that seems to be a LOT worse after 40?

I had a similar injury, but to my shoulder. My shoulder partially dislocated and come to find out, I stretched a ligament. It took almost two years for me to realize the problem was severe because it was so intermittent and started as aches and pains. (then progressed into shoulder partially dislocating on numerous occasions and without any type of insult)
My point isn't to scare you, but to point out that after closer inspection via MRI, I am in need of corrective surgey, but haven't gotten my sorry butt to do it. (seeing as recovery is 8 weeks and I just can't seem to figure out how I will do this)
I don't think it's just getting old. Pain is an indication of a problem.
I'll shut up now because clearly I am "no" dr. LOL

Well I have been thinking about what you said, even before you said it. I know that you're right about the pain being an indication of a problem BUT I am a lot better since I started to the chiro. . It just seems to be so slow in coming if you get my drift Sara. I'm ready to be better and get back to things as per usual. I can surely see how you would have a problem with shoulder surgery with a baby on the way! I'll tell ya what, I'll keep the baby for 6 weeks and then you can have her back when you're able to hold her
....whatd'ya think?

I agree with Sara, a doctor visit is in order.
If he determines it to be muscle pain, or even till you can get to him, I have a couple sugestions. I have fibromyalgia, a muscle disease, I use either heating pads or ice packs (depending on which your body reacts to best) for deep pain. I use them while I sit or lay down.
I also use a lotion/liquid with capsaicin in it, a little dab will do ya. This is the only over the counter "ache" cream that actually penetrates your skin (this is from my dr). It builds up over time to reach its full effect. Be very careful with this, it can get very uncomfortable but the pain relief for me was almost instant and irreplaceable. Do not use this before the heating pad. You will blister yourself.
Like Sara said, I am not a dr., I just play one online. lol Good luck and I hope you find a cure for your pain soon. Deb

Thanks girls. I am a good deal better....so I'm going to continue w/chiropractic care as long as it's helping. If I get to the place where it's not getting any better then I will definitely go to/dr. . I appreciate the input........
