Default Anyone use natural solutions for allergy

I suffer from allergies ( I swear from just about everything) End up with stuffy head, cant breath, the gunk in the head goes down the throat which causes a cough and then it hits the lungs and I end up really ill. I was wondering if anyone here too any vitamins or natural remedys for this type of thing and how it works.

    yes, several things help.

With this sort of allergic sensitivity the solutions are more like finding peices to the puzzle and doing a lot of little things that add up, and take the load off your immune system.

I'll mention a few then if you have questions, I can elaborate more on how to do them.

NASAL WASHING! Whaaaaa you say, well you rinse your nose out daily, several times if need be. Keeps all kinds of problems down to a dull roar. If you need details let me know.

Oh and after washing, a thin film of vaseline inside the nostrils coats, and keeps allergens from contacting the mucosa and setting off the allergic problems.

Now if you have a flat out infection which happens to many an allergic person after days of weepy runny clear mucous, when a handy germ colonizes, use Tea Tree oil a drop on a Qtip, insert, pinch and sniff 3 or 4 times a day in each nostril till it clears up.

    OK DOKEY

Vitamins (I mentioned my anti allergy regimen over in Rhonda's thread on natural shampoo and hair conditioner alternatives but I'd add a good multi and some calcium/magnesium to that. B vites and Magnesium are SUPER critical to calming down the allergies, along with W3 and W6 Fatty acids.

DUST MITE PATROL! I'm not kidding when I tell people that I wash in HOT water (rinse in cold to save money) because when you wash bedding you want to kill the little blighters. Their body parts, saliva and excretions are a big part of the problem for allergic rhinitis which is what you are describing.

CHANGE YOUR PILLOWS or at least freeze them for 24 to 48 hours in the deep freeze followed with a trip thru a HOT dryer with a clean tennis shoe or two to beat the dust mite particles out. That kills mites and fluffs them out somewhat.

But if you haven't changed your pillow in recent living memory, you need to. Dust mites build up worst in pillows, stuffed animals and mattresses and when you sleep with your face next to these, it causes allergic rhinitis (the runny nose thing).

WASH ALL BEDDING IN HOT WATER like duvets, comforters, mattress pads, pillows that are washable.

    don't sleep with stuffed toys.

Wash or at least vacuum curtains or blinds.

Vacuum your mattress and box spring, and any bedroom carpet using a beater bar and really going over it well. Use a damp terry cloth face cloth, go over all horizontal surfaces and get the dust out. You can maintain it after that using my house that cleans itself system, but get any buildup dealt with.

Put a dust proof cover on the mattress and pillows.

    Don't sleep with pets.

Vacuum with a fresh bag or else use a HEPA filter vacuum or an in house system that exhausts to the outside. Dust and vacuum regularly, with windows open a bit to let in some fresh air.
