    Default Losing weight, feeling good...

I have been really into my new healthier lifestyle for a little over a month now, and I am feeling great! I never thought much about how good exercise could make me feel. I have suffered on and off from depression for the last thirty years or so, but adding some walking to my daily routine has made such a difference! I have also lost 17 pounds.

The "skinny" jeans that had hung unworn in my closet for the last two years, now fit very comfortably. In fact, last night, I was able to pull them on OVER my gym shorts to wear when I went to the Y. I have started adding some strength training to my workout this week.

I am eating lots of healthy foods, and do not feel deprived at all. When I get hungry, I eat something. I am trying to "listen" to my body. Sometimes it wants brocolli!

Good job! It feels good, doesn't it? I've been working on this since the beginning of January. I've lost about 6 lbs so far, and have been working at changing my (actually my whole family's) eating habits. It's hard, but it will be so worth it in the long run!

I hope to feel that way by the end of February! I joined the Y last night and plan to swim every other day for a month. Hopefully, everything will go well. Last night's swim was great.

    hey no problems girls

You girls help me learn how to live a more frugal life style and cut on my grocery bill....and in return I help you girls lose thoses extra pounds and get thoses booty of yours nice and tight for summer time! LOL

I am starting my precontest diet next monday. My first competition is July 8, my second Sept.16...and I have appx. 30# to lose in the next 22wks. This is my 5th year competing in bodybuilding and my 3rd yrs competing at Nationals level.

Would you be interested if I started a journal where I would share my diet and training tips so you could see how I do thing?

    Hi Nath!

A journal would be great! And I think I know someone else who will be at the competition on Sept 16th.. is that the Nationals??

I've always been interested in bodybuilding, but since I've been overweight for about 13 yrs, I don't think my skin would ever come back enough, even if I could cut way down. Babysteps though!

    Cindy (another Canuck obviously )

Wow, small world! The person you know is a guy or a gal? (just curious LOL)

Yes the show I'm doing on sept.16, is the Nationals! THE big show of the year for us bb'er LOL.
This will be my 2nd year doing it! Last year I got 3rd in the middleweight category, this year I'm aiming 1st or 2nd in the same cat.

You know Cindy, the body is a wonderful machine and unless your skin has been stretch and has LOT'S of stretchmark it CAN get back to normal when you lose the weight it doesn't happen instantly, but like you said, baby step. A good diet, a good training plan can get you there If you need help....feel free to ask!

I would also be interested in your journal as you prepare for the competition. I know a few bodybuilders and think discipline they have is amazing.

I'm starting to do more weight bearing exercises - not body building per se, more just for toning purposes, so to pick up any tips that might be applicable would be terrific.

ETA : The point about listening to your body really hit home with me. When I first embarked on the LFL journey I just changed a couple of things but I found that my body did want activity and didn't want sugar etc. So learning to listen to myself was a great way to succeed.

So many peoples just shovel foods down their mouth because it taste good or because it's the time to eat, without even thinking about what they are doing.

Listening to your body is the key when dieting.

Not all individual are the same, some react better to a protein rich diet, with moderate carbs, some need higher carbs and less proteins. Some will lose weight faster doing HIIT cardio and some will do just fine with regular slowmo type of cardio, and some lucky one's don't need cardio at all. The key here is to find what work's best for you and stick to it, be consistent EVERYDAY!

When we think about it....losing weight and clearing debts are VERY much the same.

I will start my journal, with pic's and everything on Monday (Now don't laugh...I've been bulking all winter to gains some muscles...so I'm fat...a bber, but a fat one LOL)

    I.M.CHEAP....SORRY to highjack your thread

WTG Deb! I'm thrilled to hear that you're feeling much better. I'm feeling much the same myself. It's wonderful to be in control isn't it?
