Hands so dry they are cracking!
Hurts like @#%$! I put lotion and cream on all day! Vaseline on at night. Nothing is helping. They weren't this bad up north in Feb. Holy Moly!

Have you tried Zim's Crack Creme? Not the daytime lotion-y formula, but the regular oil formula. If you haven't, I would recommend trying it. It might just do the trick.

You might have more than dry hands. I thought dd had dry hands and it was contact dermatitis from school soap. She used similone prescription from the dr. and it cleared right up.

Okay, first I'll try the Zim's. Where do I get it? Does Walmart have it? I'm going there in the morning. If that doesn't work, I'll have the doc that I work for give me the other.

what we use is 100% lanolin. it works wonders. its like a thick paste and it smells like bandaids(if you can handle the weird smell). just rub some into the skin on your hands & put some rubber gloves on(dishwashing type or other)so you won't get it on anything. we've been able to find a 5oz container for about $5 at a local herbal store. One container will last for a long time.

You should be able to get the Zim's at Wal-Mart. They only had the creamy kind at the local Wal-Mart, but it is a "small" super store, so that may be why. I definitely recommend the regular over the daytime.

Okay, thanks, I'll look for it tomorrow. If I can't find it I'll stop at Walgreens!

I like to use antibiotic ointment and cotton gloves...it's amazing how overnight things are so much better. When healed I think it's neutragena that makes a hand creme that comes in a tube..can't remember the name but it's great, very thick. Hubby uses it in the winter as he's out all day in the elements delivering mail and is super prone to realy bad skin cracks on his hands.
Hope yours feel better soon.

My mom uses Udder Balm at night, its a bit greasy so use gloves and let soak in overnight. I also have a friend who's family makes a lotion from goats milk it's wonderful and soaks in quickly so you can use it during the day.
My mother has terribly sensitive and dry skin, a trick she learned from her Dr. was to use Super Glue on skin cracks around her cuticles and fingers to help seal them so they will heal and not get infected. She says it works good and is cheaper than the New Skin she was using before.

Okay, I just got back from Walmart and Walgreens, and I've decided that I am the only person in Florida with dry cracked skin!
I bought some Vaseline Nightly Renewel and will try that, they didn't have any of the aforementioned items!!!!!!!!! Can you believe it? I know it is from washing my hands 50+times at work and doing housework, so maybe I should quit doing housework

Do you have 'The Body Shop' shops over there Julie? They sell hemp handcream and although not cheap it works wonders! I've always had sore, chapped and bleeding hands in the winter for as long as I can remember. Then my d-i-l got some of this cream and told me about it. I got some and now I wouldn't be without it in the winter months. It's great, starts working wonders after just a few uses.

I've had this problem, too, and what worked for me was something from WalMart.... Eucerine ointment. It was in the lotion department and it came in a little pot, like face cream. It's recommended for radiation patients to treat their skin, so you know it's good stuff.

Okay, well, then, Aquaphor might work, too.
I would check the smaller pharmacies, actually- the independent ones- for many of the above items. Get out the phone book and call first to save time and money.

I had some A&D ointment (for diaper rash) and I've been using that on both my hands and my chapped lips. It works for me.
