Default My cholesterol is WAY down!

I went to the Dr. yesterday to get the results of my latest lipid profile. I have one done every three months. I have been treated for high cholesterol for the last four years. I take Zocor daily. Before I started taking the meds, my cholesterol was 271. With meds, it has averaged about 197.

About two months ago, I made some drastic changes in my diet. Cut out white flour, sugar, most fats, all "junk", and started loading up on the "super foods", like fresh fruits and vegetables. My cholesterol is down to 127!!!!!!! My doctor was very impressed. I have also lost 16 pounds. YAY!!!

Hey, did you also start eating oatmeal?? My grandpa swears by it for his cholestrol.

    And congrats, that's awesome!

I have always eaten oatmeal and Cheerios. I have started exercising, too. I walk on the treadmill and lift weights about three times a week.

Whoa - I hope your doc took you off the meds! There is such thing as cholesterol being too low, and it's associated with mental illness and higher overall mortality below 150 or so.

I did ask him about going off the Zocor, or to a lower dose (I take 40 mg. a day now), but he wanted to wait another three months.
