Default Guinea pig (beauty)tips for 2006

Well I promised  my friend (Debbie  H) I would post these...........I hope they are of use to some of you? PLEASE let me know if you try any and what you think eh?

For a cheap and gentle facial scrub add a little Bicarb of Soda ( Soda bicarb, same thing) to a little water ( or cleansing lotion if you have dry skin) make a paste and rub gently around the face avoiding the eye area. Rinse off and moisturize.

To make a supersonic moisture "mask" that is Wayyyyyyyyyyy better than overpriced chemicals, buy some LARGE pure Vitamin E capsules pierce the end with a clean needle ( sewing needle cleaned with rubbing alcohol(surgical spirit) will do nicely) then massage the contents of the capsule into your face and leave on for 10 mins............dab off the excess after 10 mins so that you don't slide off the pillow   Do this one before you go to bed and wake up with the softest skin ever!

Got some body lotion or hand lotion that is just not "doing it" for your dry skin? add two tablespoons of olive oil and mix well, now isn't that better?

Talking of hand lotion and body lotion, hands up those of you who have half used tubs and tubes of the stuff hanging around the house

Gather them up and mix them all together in a big dish adding the oilve oil ( as mentioned) if you feel your skin need the extra help.

Now when you have mixed them up and you decide they smell like kippers or old socks, DO NOT throw it all away!! add some essential oil lavender is good if you like to moisturize before bed.............peppermint is bracing for after a workout or cooling if you live in a warmer climate.

I like to use lavender and heather as it reminds me of the wild hills of the Yorkshire Moors

I have mentioned in previous threads about double duty products and  some have you have even tried them

Well to add another to the list you can add vinegar to your list of things to use as a deoderant, yes you will smell of vinegar for about 5 seconds! then it wears off trust me, I have tried ALL these tips ( which, for the newbies is why I call them the Guinea pig beauty tips )

The vinegar worked well on a particularly hot day and I was impressed. So far my pitts have tested Witch hazel, Vinegar and Bicarb of soda, er, do NOT use the Vinegar and  the soda together

Those of you who live in warmer climates or just folks with hot feet, add a few drops of peppermint oil to a light body lotion and it really cools them down.

Got some perfume you like the smell of but it doesn't "sit well on your skin"? spray it on to a few old wash cloths and when dry throw them in with your frillies/socks/undies and they smell really nice

You can also make your own nice perfumed drawer liners using any absorbant paper ( I use pre-used tissue paper) spray with the perfume, let the "excess" smell wear off, then put them in the drawers it works really well.

Nails: cut a few of those Vitamin E capsules up and put the oil in to a little bottle,. get some cotton wool pads and put them together on a table in the living room/by the computer, where ever you spend the most time, then when you have a few minutes free, get into the habit of massaging the oil into your nails..............watch them suckers grow, I had to CUT mine recently as they grew far longer than they normally do! I must admit I added a tiny lit of lavendar oil to make it smell a bit more er, "cosmetic".

Spots: I am sure you have all read about Supermodels putting a bit of toothpaste on a spot? well, I can tell you what works MUCH quicker, a blob of regular FACE PACK/MASK, trust me I have tried it!, do I sound like Heloise yet( and no she didn't tell me that one I work these out all by myself!!)

Those of you prone to boils or  the big yukky spots this "pulls " the gunk out and dries 'em up very quickly

Just a touch of face pack on the affected area and leave overnight.............just don't do what I did ,with a  black face pack spot laden face, yep, you guessed I answered the door to the Postman  I was going to have a laugh and tell him I had the plague, but he ran away too quickly

Well that's all for now, don't forget if the Guinea pig doesn't get any feedback he will starve, or just sulk...maybe,

I definitely want to try the vitamin E capsule trick!

And I second the use of witch hazel as a deoderant. Can't speak for your other deoderant options but thanks for letting us know! You're a wonderful "guniea pig"
