Vitamin B2 Question
Ryan's migraines seem to be worsening rather than improving. She does have prescription meds to take when they occur but I've been reading and trying to find something to prevent them, not just take away the pain.
Has anyone had any experience with daily vitamin B-2 for headache relief? I've read a bit but am always more careful when it comes to giving anything to a child.

But since it is a child I would for sure ask the dr. and find out the dosage he recommends.

I didn't realize Ryan had migraines, too. Poor thing.

I find a pinch of epsom salts which have magnesium help. No more than a 1/4 tsp or it will give the runs, but I knock a pinch back at bedtimes.
I read that it helps prevent Migraines, and I've also recently heard about the B2.
Pat, you don't need to worry about overdosing her on B2, since the Bs are all water soluble and excess goes straight out the kidneys without any damage anywhere.
So if she benefits, it would be perfectly safe to try B2.
I'd also look into a magnesium supplement, but not mag. oxide (most common form) since mag oxide is the LEAST absorbed form and a total waste of money. It goes straight thru without a hitch, and is passed on out.
Mag citrate or Mag sulphate (epsom salts) are good alternatives.
Put the pinch of epsom salts in orange juice.

should say, I think the magnesium helps. I get migraines, and they are usually because of being overtired.
The magnesium helps with settling me at night so I can sleep well. it's like a natural muscle relaxant. I don't take it every night, but I know that I need it when my heart gets fluttery and I skip beats.
Which is why I started taking it in the first place. But it's something that seems to help my immune system cope better and I'm not too surprised by the latest stuff saying that people with migraines have a magnesium disorder and they are unusually low on it.
Whether it's a problem with absorbing or retaining I don't know, but I do know that I feel better overall when I have my pinch of Epsom salts about every second or third night.
If I miss longer than that, I feel it.

Thank you. So far she's not had a migraine since we started the B2. It may just be coincedence but I think it's helping. I will try and work in the magnesium as well.

b2 for migrains? ive never head of that, i guess i need to read up on it. mine are caused by lighting and movement. not sure what it is about it tho. when i was a kid my mother took me to the dr. because i couldn't sit thru a single superman movie (how strange is that, i couldn't watch superman until i was 20 something) he told us it had to do with the fast action and movements. and now iv'e realized when i go to walmart and certain other stores, i cant stay in there for very long because the lights start making my eyes hurt and before i know it ive developed a miagraine.
