Breast weight and back pain
At work the other day the topic of breast weight came up. A woman about my size was considering redux, as advised by both a chiropractor and doctor.
I think my breast size will reduce with weight loss, but until then they do put a strain on my back and shoulders. Now that I've got it in my head I can feel the weight of them all the time. I hate bras, they are soo uncomfortable.

I'm sorry you are so uncomfortable. Friend of mine had the redux done and she is so glad she did, her only regret was not having it done sooner. Hope you can find what works best for you.

I do believe that each breast must be over 3 pounds in order to qualify for reimbursement for a redux.
Plus you have to show evidence that you have lost the weight and the breasts still remain. You can't do it just for weight loss purposes only- well you could actually- but your insurance company won't pay.
I have a feeling that when I loose the weight, my large floppy breasts are going to be small floppy breasts- like puppy ears. Any cure for puppy ears?

I have a dd who is 20 years old, is 5'3" and weighs 130 lbs. and wears a DDD. She is a little overweight but not that much. She wears a size 9 pant. So you can imagine how large her breasts are! My dd is in pain as she gets out of bed. She has been known to break bra straps on a brand new bras. She has been advised to get reduction but she is refusing, claiming that she will do it after she has children so she can breast feed. She is a beautiful girl and full of energy but I just can't help but think that breast reduction would be a wonderful thing for her.
By the way I have always been a C to D cup. Now that I am well over 40 I can't help but notice that I am starting to shrink a bit. I have always wanted smaller breasts but this is not all that attractive.
I remember an old aunt of mine who would joke that she would have to pick them up off the floor every morning, roll them up and tuck them into her bra. Hmmm, this could be in my future. lol

I am not considering a redux for me at all. I know when the weight goes down, so will the boobs!
I was actually surprised that the lady I was talking with wasn't encouraged to lose weight first, they suggested redux without any mention of her weight.

Well I have to say although BEFORE I lost the weight I didn't have huge boosoms, I did lose over a cup size sinze losing 52lbs.
So weight loss will make you lose some of your breasts.

I had a breast reduction last nov. It was definitely necessary in my case. All of my dr's agreed that even if I lost weight I wouldn't lose enough boobs (they were huge). Besides back pain, I was getting numbness in my hands from the weight pulling on all of the muscles and nerves. It was hard for me to do any serious exercising because of them. The dr took of about 8 lbs.
My insurance paid for it. I thought it best to jump at the chance to have it done. Who knows if the insurance would be so nice in the future. Now I'm a bit lopsided, big belly and smaller boobs. Before, my boobs and belly were kinda in proportion to each other. I have joined a gym so maybe I will even out eventually.

I had a friend in college who had a reduction. She was 5'2", 125lbs, and a size F. She lost 9lbs from the surgery and went to a B cup. She was ectastic and was only upset that she waited so long to have it done (she was 22 at the time).
I agree with wanting to breast feed my children (especially since I'm pregnant now!) but I can't help thinking that if I were in that much pain that I would just go ahead and have the surgery. I have been reading up on breastfeeding and most of the women who have reduction surgery can still breastfeed.Loving wife to DH (8/31/03) and Mommy to Owen Alexander (9/20/06) and Oliver Andrew (5/25/12)

I had breast reduction four years ago...insurance paid it with no problems. There is a forumla they use--it's not just breast weight. I'm barely 5'2" and was DD. I'm now a C cup and absolutely love my "little" breasts.
I have zero regrets. Breast feeding isn't an issue for most breast reduction patients. It was, say 10-15 years ago, but the procedure has improved greatly in that regard.
One caveat--you don't necessarily lose body weight equal to the amount of breast tissue removed. I can't tell you the medical explanation for this anymore (the surgeon explained it to me...but that was four years ago) but it was true for me. I didn't lose any "body weight"--but that's not the point of the procedure anyhow.
