Hi Lisa, sorry you suffer with this too. Is it in 1 wrist or both? I have it in both from working in a small motor factory for a couple of years and typing for years and years. I elected not to have the surgery. Saw too many horror stories.
I also had it flareup when I had ds #2 and had to wear a wrist brace whenever I held ds. That was awkward!
I do have the hard wrist brace but don't like them. I got a soft wrist brace for both my wrist when I worked at the factory. You just put you thumb in the hole and wrap it around and it has a velcro strap. I don't know where you would buy one but it is made by "scott specialties, inc., Belleville, KS, 66935".
My right wrist has been hurting bad for about a week and my hand falls asleep when I sleep and it wakes me up at night so I've been sleeping with my soft brace on and keep it on for about an hour after I wake up and as soon as my wrist starts aching in the evening. It has been helping alot and the last 2 nights I have not woken up with a "dead" hand.
I hope you can find a brace to sleep in and that you get some relief soon. Also, putting something like bengay or icyhot, or even hand lotion on and massaging your hand and wrist will make it feel a little better. Using a wrist rest while typing will also help.
Hope you get some relief very soon.
Hugs,

I also have carpal tunnel in both wrists from using knives, I worked in a cattle slaughterhouse for 5 years. When mine flares up I also use the soft braces, I hated the hard brace. I also apply heat for 10 min at a time and take ibuprofen.
Hope you feel better soon.

I hope you feel better soon! I had to give up knitting because the pain in my wrists kept me awake at night. I can still crochet though.

I have it too. Severe carpal tunnel in both hands/wrists. I was forced to give up waitressing for this reason. Mine still wakes me up at night. The pain is almost unbearable at times. I wish I could work more, or get some disability pay, or something. It has been very hard for us financially since I have not been able to waitress. I work very part-time as a cashier now, only 10-12 hours a week. It is very hard to count the money at times, with both hands almost continually numb.
