    Default Has anyone had breast cancer?

    I didn't see anything on the board about breast cancer.
    On my birthday March 4th I found two lumps. One in breast the other was in my left arm. So I went to the doctor and had my mammo done. The said the right breast had some pea size cyst but nothing to worry about, but I had one mass that they wanted me to see a surgeon for because it was not fluid filled and was solid. So I go to the surgeon on March 24th to see what he wants to do. I wasn't worried before, because in 1998 I had a lypomoma on my left breast, it hurt, but this one doesn't. So now I am sick to my stomach thinking about it.

    THe one on my left arm I have to go to a different specialist since there is a mole there also.

    So anyone who has had this or has a loved one who has been through it. I would love to hear.
    I haven't been on for awhile, I guess a little depressed.

    Thanks for any help or support.

    I am a suvivor Maggi and my older sister and aunt are survivors also.

    I do know how scary this is and all I can say is keep your chin up. The waiting game is the hardest part of all I think. If you need to talk about it, I am only a pm away.

    Hi Maggi,
    I have not had breast cancer but I have had two scares, both biopsies were clear. My mother and 4 of her sisters have all had breast cancer all are survivors except one and she had it 30 years ago when screening was not available. I have to be diligent with testing because of my family history.

    I am sure you are scared It's a natural reaction. I think the worst part is wating for a test and then waiting for the results. I hope all goes well for you.
    I will keep you in my prayers

    Frugalnana, I am so sorry you are suffering in this way. I don't have BC, but I want to still offer you some support. I hope everything turns out to be 'just a scare'. I know it is disheartening when you have no control of some things. And breast cancer is that way. But wait for the test results before all the worry.

    my aunt had breast cancer and is s survivor. my mom had uterine cancer. not quite teh same but the waiting is horrible regardless why you are waiting. take it one step at a time. do what you need to do to take care of yourself. if that means asking for help, ask for it. if that means sitting on the floor and crying your eyes out, then cry your eyes out. just need a hug or friendly supportive comment, well come on and visit the village. there is always someone here more than willing to give ya a hug or encouragement.

    you will get through this

    I am now a 6-year survivor of breast cancer. It certainly rocked our world when I was first diagnosed! But the medical care out there and the strides they have made in treatment are amazing. Don't be discouraged!

    I just wanted everyone to know that I went to the surgeon today and I'm scheduled to have the mass removed, biopsy done on April 5th. THe surgeon said the mass was 6ccm which I think comes to 2 inches going down in my breast. He stated he wasn't for sure if it was anything to be concerned about, sometimes you can't tell until you have it removed. I trust this surgeon since he has done other surgerys on me and he hasn't been wrong yet.

    I really do appreciate your words of comfort and letting me know what your lives were like when you were diagnosed. My heart goes out to all of you. Just in these few short weeks I have had many people that I have been friends with for years tell me about an aunt or a friends mother or even grandmother that had breast cancer or a scare. I even found out last week that a friend from church found a lump the same week I did and she also went to her surgeon today, I will be meeting her tomorrow before my hubby and I leave for a week to just be alone together. I also found out an old co-worker found a lump and she has already been to the doctor, they told her that hers was a fluid filled cyst. So I am relieved for her.

    Everyone take care and thank you again.

    Thanks for the update Maggi, and your surgeon is right, sometimes they just can't tell until they can actually see and test it. Lots of good thoughts coming your way.

    Now you and hubby go away and have a great time!

    Good luck with everything sweetie. Sixteen months ago I found a lump, it turned out to be a harmless cyst. I know the fear and the waiting because it took two weeks to get into the doctor and it seemed like the longest two weeks of my life. My thoughts are with you.
    “When you get to the end of all the light you know
    and it's time to step into the darkness of the unknown,
    faith is knowing that one of two things will happen:
    you will be given something solid to stand on,
    or you will be taught how to fly.” - Edward Teller

    “Our Earth is degenerate in these later days;
    there are signs that the world is speedily
    coming to an end;
    bribery and corruption are common; children no
    longer obey their parents;
    every man wants to write a book and the
    end of the world is evidently approaching.”
    — From a translation of an inscription on
    an Assyrian clay tablet, circa 2800 B.C.E.

    God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
    courage to change the things I can,
    and the wisdom to know the difference
    .
