My Dd, Olivia has been going through the same thing, but her pedi said it was just hormone changes (She's 12-almost 13) We tryed many different perscriptions, shampoos, but what seemed to work best was rinsing her head with apple cider vinegar and water. It takes many weeks of the method, but did help...if it becomes too bad, I'd call her pedi.

Angie, you've got 4 kids, I'm sure you *know* about these things, but is it possible that it could be cradle cap?

Miss K still has it behind her ears & she's 2. I have a friend whose 4 year old had it in her head, still & it blead even.

    anyway,
I'd try scrubbing it good & then greasing it up on the weekends....so you can wash out the product before she goes in public. .....*if* she goes in public.

We like aquaphor or eucerin, or any other greasy product.

In a salon they would most likely gently run a comb to release most of the dry skin. Rinse with Sea Breaze and then shampoo.
I do like the idea of trying the vinegar though.

When I was a kid, my step brother (we were both 7 or 8) had SUPER BAD DRY Scalp. The barber said to massage his head with baby oil. It worked.

my son is the same way (hes 4) i thought maybe it had something to do with his eczema, but here lately ive noticed mine is awfully dry to. i think mine has to do with our water tho, its horrible. but i think i will try that vinegar idea tho.

Tea tree oil or paul mitchell tea tree shampoo might help, just keep it away from the eyes!

Anything with Tea Tree in it works beautifully. That is what the Dr. and hairdresser recommended for my DD. She is doing really good with it.

I once had horrible dry scalp, after trying the dandruff shampoos, thata didnt work, I (I know its messy and yucky) but I washed my head in oil. Thats right, canola oil. I guess veg or mazola or whatever you have would work too. I left it on my head in a warm towel for about a half and hour and then wshed ir out, had to rinse ALOT. But it cleared right up.
