Need natural remedy for puffy eyes!!
I have puffy eyes in the morning and late at night, anyone have any suggestions for a natural remedy?
I have heard of witch hazel, but it must be applied in its natural state, as a tea bag, not in bottled form. Cant find the tea bag form in our health food store, though.
Any suggestions would be helpful...........
Thank you

I've heard chamomile tea bags moistened on the eyes are good.

Take a look at the possibility you are allergic to dust mites. Many people are, and it's often symptoms that show up around bedtime, and early morning, when you are exposed to the dust in pillows and mattresses.
an allergist can help you figure it out for sure, but look into it. There are a few things you can do for that, non drug related, like using dust proof mattress and pillow protectors, and washing mattress pads, blankets monthly.
Wash in very hot water to kill off dust mites, they recolonize in about 6 weeks, which is why it's a once a month deal for asthmatics with bedding.
Freeze your pillows for a 12 hour period once a month, then toss in a hot dryer with a clean shoe to beat the dust out (and kill the mites), change the pillows out once a year, and wash them if you can. Freezing kills dust mites. Treat stuffed animals like pillows.
I have a down duvet, (feathers don't bother me at all, in fact it works that way for a lot of people, they are figuring synthetics which harbor molds are worse) and to keep it fresh, I put it out on the line in the winter to freeze dry the mite population. Summer I shake it out but don't leave it out due to pollens etc. ditto the pillows.
Bed making, vacuum your bare mattress on a monthly basis when you wash the bedding, and in between, when you get out of bed, throw the covers all the way back to let the bed air out.
Mites love warm humid spaces, and this interferes with their life, by allowing the mattress to air out and get really dry air inside it.
Bedrooms are often vacuumed and dusted less, and they should be done more.
If you can remove all dust catching drapes, carpets and stuffed toys and clutter.
Damp wipe or dust well daily to twice a week depending on symptoms. Ditto floors, light fixtures etc.
Keep books and bookcases out of the bedroom.
I'm bad on the books, and my asthma and other allergy symptoms let me know when I let up too much on the routine.
My son does best with an air filter, one of the ones just below a HEPA in filtration, from Sears. It runs day and night, and he gets away without doing a lot of dusting, but he does do the once a month bedding things.

you are very welcome Stace.
My routine sounds worse than it is. In practice, the stuff I don't miss is my monthly deep hot laundering, and weekly hot laundry of the sheets. Along with a weekly vacuuming of the room, and a monthly vac of the bed (when I strip the mattress pad off).
I find that helps.
I dust regularly, and seem to tolerate about a week's worth before it gets to me. Leave it longer and I wake up asthmatic. And yes, puffy eyes.
I flip the covers back every morning and leave them till afternoon or evening.
I often open the window, block the heat vent, and shut the bedroom door to really freeze the dust mites little tiny butts off!
And I toss my duvet and pillows out on the porch once a month to freeze to death, and come summer I wash them. Feather pillows, down duvet, very washable.

i bought one of those blue gel masks. i keep mine in a baggie in the fridge (they tend to absorb ice box odors) and plop it on my face when im feeling puffy. i know its not all natural, but mary kay has a blue cooling gel for the eyes that does the same thing. i use both when im feeling really puffy.

Try putting your witch hazel in the fridge and put it on cotton balls and put those on your eyes. Also, wet down two black tea bags (like Lipton ones, just regular tea) and put those on your eyes.

I get puffy under my eyes sometimes, I think it may be from a poor nights sleep, or from sinues (dna from dad)......
Anyway some things I have found that help me are:
Drink lots of water
Take extra vitamin C
Get regular good sleep
JMHO,
