    Unhappy Bras?

Ok, I put this in the health section because I feel like, for me, this is a health issue. I have a terrible time finding comfortable bras. I mean terrible! Sports bras never fit right (I'm a 36D) and expensive underwires are uncomfortable. I do end up wearing underwires, because I like the shape I get, but they are always some kind of polyester blend. They are miserable in the summer because of the awful fabric and the wires. Can anyone help me with this??? I would love to find a cotton bra, or at least a bra with a high cotton content, with no wires, but that will still be supportive. Is this possible? I've looked on the internet but everything that I have found is over $100!!! I can't possibly do that. I would appreciate any advice. BTW, I do know how to sew and could possibly make something if I had a pattern.

    Thanks!

Curvation makes some nice, supportive bras that don't have underwires. Only a couple of them start at size 36 (I think the majority start at 38) but it might be worth looking into- especially if you are good with a needle and can't make an alteration to a 38 to make it work for you. I get 38D and just put it on the smalllest setting and find them extremely comfortable. They have some that are all/mostly cotton, and they are pretty cheap- $12-$17 at places like Wal-Mart, K-Mart, Shopko....

I am a an avid sportsbra wearer myself, I must be lopsided because with regular bras the straps are always falling down, and it is very annoying to me!!

I suggest trying a website like Hanes.com or LaneBryant.com (I don't know if those are the actual website addies but you can do a search). I'm sure both of these sites could help you out...and for much less than $100. That's totally outrageous!!

My dd is a 36ddd and I am afraid we have spent $100's of dollars on bras. Only the underwires will hold her. We have been to corset shops to have her measured and even they don't know what to do with her. Victoria Secrets wouldn't even touch her and told me to try the internet. Like we hadn't already tried that. I think she is wearing Olga's these days.

Curvations are comfortable (just don't screw up and put them in the dryer, the elastic comes out all over the place), their front hook sports bra is pretty comfy also. I have found some pretty comfortable ones from just my size and playtex at walmart also (you just gotta dig through the boxes). On line I sometimes look at Just My Size and Avenue. They have sales all the time (around $12 give or take a bit).

I used to have a terrible problem with bras until I went to Fredricks of Hollywood and had a fitting. Dh took me there and it was a great move. I am a 40 DD and wasn't buying the right size for me. Always trying to fit into what was available where I was shopping. Then the girl there suggested a website that has worked out GREAT!!!!! Bigger Bras! Most run between 30 and 50 dollars althought some can be much higher but the fit is out of this world. Because I work in construction and am up and down ladders all day in the heat fit and comfort is very important. Also Vanity Fair has good front closures with heavy duty straps and support. One of the types I wear often to work in is 100% cotton cups with an exercise type back support made out of a combination cotton, nylon and spandex. Getting properly fitted is the most important part. Go somewhere that will measure you for a proper fit. Nothing is more uncomfortable then to try and fit 40DD melons into 38C holders

I too have this problem. I'm not a plus-size girl, but I have plus size "girls" -- they're 38Ds. I can find some really sexy ones at Penningtons, Addition Elle, and other stores of that nature. My problem is that the panties are always too big for me. Grrrrr.

JC Penny was helpful to me to find 38DDD. They were on sale 50% off for $14.99. They had underwires, but I removed them. Hope this helps.

I was going to suggest trying the Breezies on QVC as well. I've watched a few of the shows and I'm intrigued.

I jsut got 3 wodnerbras with padded shoulders and lots of support for only $24 each (they were on 50% sale). I am up to a 40DDD

I would suggest going up a cup size to see if that helps. but keep the band the same.

    my back doesnt hurt anymore!!
