Itchy legs
Can you help my friend with itchy legs? They are so bad that she is scratching them raw. She is looking for a natural remedy if possible. Do you think a variation of olive oil would help? Any suggestions are welcome.

A friend of mine who has very dry skin does the following: (at least 3 times a week).
Take a shower, step out on mat and rub down with baby oil well.....the oil soakes in because skin is damp and pores are open.
Hope this idea helps,

Aquaphor also helps -- it is just basically mineral oil in a goopy lotion-like base -- our dermatologist suggested it for ds's eczema. He also said that the key is to use it while still damp from a bath.

She should try running a vaporizer during the night. I am diabetic and suffer from dry skin. The vaporizer helps. I also use Eucerin on my face for eczema but I have used it on my legs, arms and back as well.

What about taking flax seed oil? You can take it in pill or liquid form (liquid is gross) and it helps. I have taken it before and I also used to give it to my hedgehog when his skin dried out.

She may be getting bitten by fleas. I know it's a gross thought, but worth asking, simply because if her legs are itchy with little red bites, it's often the carpet harboring hungry fleas, and especially if there used to be pets in the home.
People can have the problem and be perfectly clean. The fleas off a dog or cat are fine till their meal leaves or goes away for a while, then the fleas attack humans and the typical bites are on the legs.
If she has dry itchy skin all over, that is another story, but legs only, it's often an overlooked cause.

Perhaps I should have given more details. She went through chemo and radiation several years ago, and her drs have said that is is the radiation leaving her body that makes the skin dry. Thanks for the suggestions.
