OB Tampons? (TMI-ish)
Um. I guess this goes here. If not, sorry. I didn't see any place else that it would have fit in.
I've been using OB tampons for about 6 months now and have been loving their Silk Ease line. The only problem I'm having with them is that now I can't FIND them in stores. Not the regular kind and certainly not the Silk Ease. I went to their website today to see if they had a number I could call to find out what's up and see if I could find other stores in my area that sell them, and the website is gone. Um. Did they go away and I just missed the news?
I'm in a real bind here because I'm starting to get PMS-y so I'm going to need to hit the store soon. I can't use Playtex (irritation galore) and I'm not too terribly fond of Tampax (they just hurt; they're shaped all wrong). I've never found a store brand that I like, and I don't want to go back to pads (hatehatehate pads). I'm not ready for a cup, mainly for financial reasons. I REALLY like the OB tampons. Anyone know where they're at or what's going on?

Must be a big run on ob tampons I guess, lol.
Must be using them for arts & crafts. http://www.tamponcrafts.com/bouquet.html
That brand is a fav around here too. I think Kotex or Tampex makes a non applicator type of tampon too. Maybe you could find those to use until ob is back on your shelves.

I just bought some the other day, so they're definitely available around here.
I would never have thought to buy them off eBay, though, lol.

Can you (or someone) pull a customer service number off there for me so I can call them, please?
AGierald - the only place I could find the OB Silk Ease before was at Winn Dixie, and they all seem to be out of them. Several of them are even out of everything except the multi-pack, which I don't need. I just need the regular size. WalMart has been out of everything but the multi-pack, Target... I think Target has been out of them completely. Or maybe that was WalMart. I can't remember. The idea of driving around to stop at every store I pass just to run in and see if they have the type of tampons I favor is quite brain-numbing. Too much time spent in stores, too much driving around, too much starting and turning off of my engine (I have a wicked bad history with starters in every car I drive; we've had to replace the starter in my car 6 times so far... we've had the car for not quite 6 years). Guess I have no choice though.
Tomorrow I go hunting for either OBs or some other non-applicator type tampons.
Last resort will be to follow rodmick's lead and buy off ebay!

Ew you want me to insert with THAT?!?!?! *lol*
OB Tampons here are relatively inexpensive compared to Tampax and Playtex. I guess Canadian women do not want to manually insert a tampon w/o applicator. I mean c'mon, I still remember the days of the early generations of maxi pads - pre adhesive! Damned kotex with the belt! Where do you think the whole 'wing' novelty craze originated from? Maybe Im wrong? LOL
I usually buy my OB's @ Costco for about $6-$7/2pk package - if that makes sense.
Down in the US check the non obvious places for them. So if you normally go to a grocery store or drug store or a big box store (wmart etc) then try cheaper stores - dollar stores even? Yours seem to have great stuff down there!
Im envious as I have just re-discovered Dollar General!

Called the company yesterday and found out that the reason I can't find the OB Silk Ease is because they've been discontinued. It would seem that I'm one of an insanely small number of women that liked them when OB put them out at the beginning of the year as a test product. I sobbed at the woman on the phone and told her that it was the Silk Ease that made me an OB user to begin with. Nothing can be done about that though, they just don't make or sell them anymore. She couldn't tell me why I can't find the regular boxes of regular size tampons except that "sales have been low".
So I found out what stores they supplied to in this area and went on a mad tampon hunt last night. The Mister drove (grumbling the entire time), Little Miss read and giggled at her insane parents, and I hopped out at every store, ran in, ran out. It was insane, I tell you.
The night ended with no boxes of tampons in my hands (I found a few boxes of the regular, but I was holding out for the Silk Ease) and me skulking about on ebay. I slept on what I found (NO impulse shopping on ebay! Badbadbad things happen!) and this morning I ordered a lot of 100 tampons. After shipping is factored, the price per box (where 20=1 box) comes out to roughly half of what I would have normally paid for a box in the stores. Sweet!
I wanted to get the lot of 500, but after I told my husband that I feel like Elaine in the episode of Seinfeld where they discontinued the Sponge and she goes on a mad hoarding spree, he said 100 was enough. Still, if there are any lots available in a few weeks I'll buy another one.
Curiously, I STILL cannot access the OB website. I've tried using I.E. and Firefox. I've checked all the browser settings. I can't for the life of me figure out why I can't access that site.
Thanks for the help, everyone!
