Dr. Don Colbert suggests in his books to use Ivory soap and rinse well.

I spend a lot of time in Mexico and you can purchase Microdine which is a mild iodine solution. In the past I have used this to soak my veggies, lately I have been using a little bit of bleach in a small sink of water, soaking for a while than rinsing real good. Don't use the iodine if allergic to fish.
