Anyone ever had a breast reduction?
I'm having a breast reduction on Sept 22. I'm looking forward to it, and I'm nervous all at the same time. The plastic surgeon's office is doing me a favor by filing as much as they can with my insurance company, which my insurance has approved
. They are also giving me a discount on the surgeon's fee. The doctor I work for called the plastic surgeon, whom he knows, to get me in with him and to get a good deal. Even though I'm only paying the surgeon's fee, it is still expensive.
I cannot wait for my neck and shoulders to feel better. It will also help me out with my clothes, because I have a closet full of clothes that I hadn't been able to wear. I gained a little weight, and my chest was too big for them. I'll be so excited to wear some of my old clothes again. I'll discuss cup size at my pre-op visit on Sept 7. I'm hoping to go down to a C cup. I'm currently a 44 DDD.
Just wondering if anyone else has had this done. How long was your recovery? Were you happy in the end? I'd love to hear about anyone's experience.

My best friend had one a few years ago, and it was one of the best things she's ever done. They took 1.5lbs off of one breast and 2lbs off of the other. She's still a D or DD. They were aiming for a C, but the surgeon told her he'd take as much as he could, but wasn't sure if they could get to a C.
She recently lost 20lbs and her bra is loose. She's doing weigh watchers and wants to loose another 30lbs. That might get her down to a C.
Hers was a day surgery. They sent her home with little drainage tubes in each breast. She had to go back in a few days to have those removed (no big deal). At 48hrs, she was able to take a shower and needed to change the dressings - I helped her with that. She wasn't up to doing all that by herself.
She went back to work at 2 weeks - working as a nursing assistant in a children's hospital. She continued to have some occasional weird shooting breast pains for a month or two, especially when she got cold. But between times, she felt fine.
I'm sure you'll be happy with the results.

I also had a friend who had it done and wishes she'd been able to have it done sooner. Trying to talk insurance co. into going for it isn't the easiest as you know. Gone is her neck, back & shoulder pain. She loves her new perkier "girls"
Sending you some quick healing vibes.~*Darlene*~

I had it done last november. I am happy with the fact that my shoulders don't ache all the time, but I'm not happy with the actual job done. I had really really big breasts (the dr took off almost 8 lbs!), but I'm not happy with the final cosmetic appearance. I'm not sure if all of the problems were because the dr did a really crumby job that because my boobs were so big it was just hard to judge exactly were to cut, etc... I definitely don't want to scare anyone off, overall it was a good decision and if you want anymore info just PM me.

Yeah, my neck and back kill me. I get these muscle spasms, and there's nothing I can do that make them any better. The tense muscles in my neck cause me a lot of tension headaches. I cannot wait for it to relieve the tension.
Beverly, I agree that it's very important to have a good surgeon. I know there's a risk that it may not turn out looking just right. At this point that's a risk I'm willing to take. I hate to hear that yours didn't turn out looking the way you wanted. I'll send you a PM. Thanks for the info.
