    Talking I'm having surgery!!!

I don't know when, but it's official that I am!

    Hallelujah!

My plantar fasciitis has limited my activity for 26 months. I have tried (in no particular order):
*different shoes, including birkenstocks, dansco, and keen
    *custom orthotics
    *stretching
    *icing
    *physical therapy
    *cortisone injections
    *steroid cream
    *ibuprofen
    *oral steroids (predisone)
    *celebrex
    *night splint
    *walking boot/cast
*shock wave therapy (waste of $13,000!)
    *rest
    *air cast (waste of $75)
    *crutches
*electric scooters at the grocery store
*kneeling on a chair to cook
    *shower chair

    And probably more. UGH!

But my doc and I agreed today that there is nothing left to try. Someone will be calling me today or tomorrow to schedule.

I have to keep it elevated for the first 5 days, then I'll be non-weight bearing for 6 weeks and off work for 10-12 weeks. I'd like to schedule it for the begining of October, for a few reasons. One is that my mom wants to help out around the house and is supposed to give one month's notice for time off requests. Another is that I'd be off work through the holidays. Also, I could have all the garden produce canned or frozen by then.

I've been setting aside money for this - because I only have about 2 weeks of paid leave - I used about 6 weeks before and after the shock wave.

I'll fill my freezer, get some good library books, rent a couple of movies and watch the backlog of quilting shows that are piling up in the Tivo.

I know you've been suffering for a long time Valerie. I hope you get the relief you need and are back to your 'old' (sorry.. ) self again soon.

Congrats. I have that too, but I am not suffering like it sounds like you have been. I hope it works out great for you!

I'm sure it will go well for you Valerie! My mom had surgery a few years ago for her plantar fasciitis, and her only regret is that she didn't try it sooner. She has zero pain from it now!

I'm not sure what that is that you have, but I hope since you are in pain that this surgery makes you feel painfree. Good luck too you. Hugs and prayers being sent your way.

Congrats! I suffered from that condition in both feet. It lasted a year until my chiropractor fixed me by stretching my feet!
    Good Luck!
