How long has it been since you've taken some time to pamper yourself?
I mean don't we girls all need some time to do the "upkeep"? Today I was looking at the chipping polish on my toenails and thought, "ok, it's time". So even though were dozens of other things I could have been doing I took about 2 hours off and did a mask, pedicure and manicure and shaved my legs. I did the pedi and mani's right, using cuticle oil and pushing back those ugly cuticles, used an emery block on the heels and calluses of my feet and so on. I'm gonna do a sugar/oil scrub before I go to bed on my hands. I lurve the way that makes my hands feel. For me that's the pay off. The way it all feels when I'm done.
So, when was the last time you spent a little time fine tuning yourself? Don't you think you're worth it? I know it's tough when you have a family to make the time but it's certainly a stress reliever when you can do it.

Honestly I would have to say more then 5 years ago. Since frugality has entered my life I don't feel the need to pamper myself..I do however always hear my co-workers say you should have your hair dyed (I have inheritated my fathers genes and have silver hair since my early 30's)you would feel so much better about yourself...I don't feel bad about myself until I hear them saying it everyweek. I have never had nor given myself a manicure or pedicure in my life.... I made homemade Bubblebath jelly last year it's made with lavender essential oil with a few other ingredients and was so relaxing and refreshing...thats the closet thing to pampering myself in along time..

Sadly enough, I have a $40 gift certificate for a manicure and a pedicure that a parent gave me over the summer and it's just sitting there, because I don't have time to go use it.

I clipped my toenails today while talking to my sister in the phone, does that count?

I do have an appointment to get a haircut soon. First time in over a year.

My grandma had silver hair by the time she was 4o and it didn't seem to bother her either. I actually think silver hair is very attractive on younger people. It's all in your attitude and I think you have a good one. Don't listen to those girls at work. You are fine the way you are.

About 3 weeks ago before vacation, hair color, cut, nails (fingers and toes). I recently cut all my nails off much to my girls astonishment. I am starting to fall clean and they were in the way.

Because I dye my hair (black) and it's really expsensive to do so, I only wash my hair twice a week. It is pretty good at looking clean, I don't put a lot of product in it, just some straightening balm. Anyway, the hair on my legs (thankfully) doesn't grow back very quickly, so I only have to shave about twice a week as well.
BUT, every night, I wash my face with Ivory Pure (my favorite soap) and put on some face cream. I put baby oil on my legs after I shave, I wear my favorite perfume (Hugo Boss' Deep Red -- a real luxury purchase, as it IS real perfume) but I spray it in my hair instead of on my skin, so it kind of gets swirled around me every time I move my head. I also rub Vasceline or lotion on my feet and put socks on before I go to bed.
I don't buy a lot of beauty products -- I stick with a good bar of soap, a good jar of face cream, a bottle of baby oil and some Vasceline. I rarely wear makeup (I have really nice skin, and I find makeup just looks silly on me) but when I want to look extra sexy, I line my eyes with black eyeliner. They're naturally bright blue and really pop when I do that.
seems to like it.
Actually, I asked him yesterday if he thought I should start wearing makeup. "No," was his immediate response.
I love that man.

How long has it been since I've done the "purty gurl" upkeep?
Ever. My feet are a mess - I get very bad callouses that crack into the live flesh, ingrown toenails, lichenplanus, so they take an awful lot of upkeep just to stop them from looking like something that should be attached to a green monster, I could use a facial something vicious - even a mud masque would do me well, I'm managing to change my polish every now and again...
My hair is brushed and clean and my legs are shaved.... does that count?
Alright... the listing of what I *haven't* done has now motivated me to at least do my feet and a mud masque.
Like I say to my friends... "we're not born glamourous you know"

It has been about 3 weeks ago. I really need a pedicure really bad, but haven't found the time to do it. I usually wear sandals to work, but this week I have been wearing socks and shoes to hide my toes. I guess it is time. I will plan on doing that this weekend.

Awww ladies come on. Just because you are frugal you don't have to let yourself go.
Every Sunday morning I choose two things that need attention. For example today it was nails and eyebrows. Sneak a leg shave during the week.
You can do up keep frugally. With little investment you can sneak a salon look. So soak those tootsies and rub some lotion on 'em. You will love yourself for it. Do something!
So consider this your frugal pep talk! (Insert cheerleader) Wahoo U can do it!

if i could get to my toes without pain (knees and hips hurt) i'd do a pedicure. a manicure won't last more than a day because of work. i usually so a sugar scrub all over a couple of times a month and it's about time to do that again.i want to get one of those nail buffer blocks though cus that will at least make my nails look shiney with out polish and i need to get my hand in better condition before it gets cold and they are a total wreck.
i don't do much mostly because i'm exhausted, but little things do add up to make you feel better.wife to carl

O'kay, I feel really spoiled and selfish posting my reply. Every week I do a manicure, pedicure, and pluck my eyebrows. I shave my underarms and legs everyday. (I have never shaved my thighs, so it is just my lower legs) I also get my hair trimmed every two months.
Every night I wash my face before I go to bed (Dove soap) and then put on lotion. I do wear makeup but not every day. Anyway, I have been doing this since I was 13 years old and I just turned 41 last month. Friday I was carded for buying beer (I made beer bread) and I was shocked because they actually thought I was not old enough to purchase it.
