Life Insurance
My mother suggested i take a life insurance policy on her. I need to find one that is disregarding health situations, and gives about 5-10 K of return. It is a creepy thing to have mom ask me to do, so now i need to look for plans and i have no idea where to look. I am hoping my friends here will know.

This is the only one I've heard advertised. I haven't read the fine print and don't endorse it because I know nothing about it. Good Luck Miss.

Alrighty, I'll check into it. I have no idea what or where to start. I don't like admitting to my own mother's mortality and therefore feel weird preparing for the inevitable. But she is urging me to do it, so i guess i should.

Missy,
Most of the companies that sell life insurance with no medical exams are the ones that advertise on TV. The plans are expensive and some have a graded death benefit. (This means that if death occurs within the first 2-3 years, only a portion of the benefit will be paid, not the full amount.) There is a lot of consumer education type material on www.insure.com. They also sell insurance but I honestly don't know anything about that part of their business.
You can check an insurance company's financial ratings on www.ambest.com.
If you are looking for insurance to pay funeral expenses only, some funeral homes offer prepaid funerals. Basically, you just go down the list and pick the things you want for your funeral. I guess the idea is to lock in today's prices for a future need and eliminate the burden for the survivors. I happened to see one of these contracts recently and the whole idea was creepy to me. (And, I'm someone that LIKES to prepare for everything!)
Hope you can find something suitable. It is tough to be in that situation.
