Health Fair in our next town over on Thursday
Gripey and I are gonna go and get our lipids (cholesterol) bloodwork done for free (I'm sooooo excited!-this would cost at about $70 ea. after dr.'s visits to get the orders). They also will be doing heel bone density (I'm gonna do that for sure), bodyfat calculations (think I'll forgo that one
), blood pressure, etc... . We're gonna do the fasting bloodwork, go early and perhaps even get our flu shots and pneumonia shots as well. I'm gonna call the health dept. and compare prices tomorrow on those. This will be a great money saving thing. Do you ever go to your local health fairs?

That's great! Good luck with all your tests. I've never gone to a health fair, but I'm seriously considering it the next time one comes around

When I was in nursing school I participated in our department's health fair. Heck I even went on the local news to advertise it! One of my proud moments! Keep in mind that about once every few years you should get a bone density scan of your hip and/or spine, because this is where the most bone loss occurs. Glad to see your are going to your health fair. Hope everything looks good!

Wow, those are great savings! I have never been to a health fair since I work in health care but they are great money savers for people. It sounds like this one is really good, not a lot of them offer the blood work for free, that is great.

We went to one last year and actually signed up for CALSTAR which is the helicopter company that flies you out of our lil town to a bigger town that has better emergency/trauma care. Those flights can cost $10,000 - $30,000and for $45/year our family is covered. They bill the insurance and whatever they pay is taken as payment in full.
“When you get to the end of all the light you know
and it's time to step into the darkness of the unknown,
faith is knowing that one of two things will happen:
you will be given something solid to stand on,
or you will be taught how to fly.” - Edward Teller
“Our Earth is degenerate in these later days;
there are signs that the world is speedily
coming to an end;
bribery and corruption are common; children no
longer obey their parents;
every man wants to write a book and the
end of the world is evidently approaching.”
— From a translation of an inscription on
an Assyrian clay tablet, circa 2800 B.C.E.
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
courage to change the things I can,
and the wisdom to know the difference.
