    Default Hernia Re-repair Oct 17

Some of you may recall that I had a hernia repair in May. Unfortunately, it didn't "take". I will have another surgery tomorrow to hopefully fix it for good. I am feeling a little scared and weepy...normal pre-op nerves I guess.

For those so inclined, please keep me in your thoughts and prayers. I'll be hospitalized overnight, and released the next day if everything goes well.

Saying my prayers that this one will work for you. It isn't any fun having surgery.

You will definitely be in my thoughts and prayers. The same thing happened to my SIL a few years ago. She had a hernia repair and then started having problems a few months later. She had the surgery again and I believe this time they used some sort of mesh. It's been over 2 years since her last surgery and all is well

Thoughts and prayers going your way! I understand that weepy scared feeling felt the same way last week. Go ahead and cry it helps to clean out those tears ducts once in awhile.

Thank you all for your kind words. The surgery was successful, but I am in a great deal of pain. I don't really remember waking up in recovery, I do remember a nurse coming over and saying "stop crying and it won't hurt as much". I thought that was very mean, I mean geez, I wasn't even fully awake yet and certainly didn't realize I was crying.

The incision was eight inches this time--breast bone to pubic bone. I take comfort from y'all who posted about loved ones for whom the second surgery worked. The surgeon did use mesh this time. When he released me he prescribed Dilaudid, which is supposed to be strong stuff, and it does take the edge off, but the pain still isn't really being controlled.

DH, Mom, and I all thank you again for your thoughts and prayers...I know things would have been even worse without them.
