    Default Update on gallbladder surgery!!

Thanks everyone for the hugs and prayers I ended up going into surgery late, in at 3 instead of 1 and I was headed home by 6. When I woke up the nurse said to get up and go pee, after that its out you go! They were great and the gal that talked to me while they strapped me onto the table was really nice. When I was leaving they told me how to look after the stitches and the day after I got home I peeled off the bandaids to find.......STAPLES!!!!!!!!!! YUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so creeped out!!!!!!!!!
I know I'm a sucky baby but when your expecting disolvable stitches and you find STAPLES!!!!!!!!! They give my hubby the shivers. My kids asked if a magnet would stick to me.
Coughing, laughing, and rolling over are torture. The staples are tight and burning. I have already eaten a little lasagna and some jello which used to be no nos and nothing happened!!!!!!! But I definitely feel fuller faster.......I feel yucky and bloated too and need to know when to put the fork down.
Aside from the staples and the burning and pain ........I guess it went all right. Thanks again everyone for all your thoughts!

Glad you are home and hope your recovery is speedy.

I'm surprised about the staples. I live in Manitoba, had gall bladder surgery in June and had no staples, just tiny little bandages. The scars are almost gone.

Glad that you're recovering nicely. Be sure to use that pillow when you cough/sneeze/turn over/laugh...... . It will help not to pull those so much. You'll be back to your' ol' self soon.

Glad to hear your home. Hope your recovery goes as well as mine. Back to my old self in 30 days! But still not eating as much. Which is a good thing as I needed to lose 15 pounds for blood pressure and its coming off really easy.

Glad everything went well. I had staples after my c-section, and even though I knew they were going to put in staples, I was still shocked and surprized when they took the bandage off.

    Good luck and speedy recovery!

Wow--I didn't know staples were still in use. I had them many years ago with a knee surgery. My nephew was about 5 at the time, and the poor little guy was totally freaked when he saw them. He cried because "that bad doctor" had hurt me with his stapler. Bless his sweet little heart.

You take care of yourself and make sure you follow any post-op instructions about lifting limits, etc.
