Headaches
I've been having real bad headaches for about 7 weeks now. After 4 weeks I went to the doctor and she said I had a sinus infection. After 2 rounds of antibiotics, my infection is gone, but the headaches remain. Today I went and had a CT scan of my sinus area. I've never had this before, and it went just fine. I'm awaiting the results.
I just wanted to share this, and see if anyone has any advice, or thoughts to offer.
Thanks in advance.

suesue- i have been a headache (migraine) sufferer for 15 years. your story sounds like a carbon copy of my situation. my dr referred me to a allergy & asthma doctor, and they did a sinus scan & they couldn't find anything wrong. finally i started getting allergy shots & my headaches are thankfully dwindling down alot. i had been on so many different kinds of meds & i was tired of taking them all the time. the best migraine medicine is "axert"!!!! if you have nay other questions please "pm" me. good luck!!

suesue sometimes headaches are a warning sign of something else. When I was pg with ds#3 I had a headache that never went away. Mt stupid dr kept telling me it was a tenson headache it would go away after I had the baby...... It never did. It ended up being my gallblader. Sinus problems are terrible. I start to get headaches just before I have a sever asthma attack. I hope you start feeling better and they fine the cause of the headaches
FernYes I'm out of my mind. It's a dark and scary place in there.

I use to get killer headaches. My sinuses were barometers. Weather changes, allergies anything could set them off. It was suggested to try hot moist compresses to my face-sinus areas. It really did help. I would take a damp handtowel and toss it in the microwave for a minute and hold it on my face--be careful it's not too hot--until it cooled off and repeat.
It's cheap and easy and worth a try. Hope you find something to help.Robin

Sometimes migraine masquerades as sinus headache. I've been a migraine-sufferer for almost 10 years now. Weather changes, certain foods, lack of sleep (or too much), extreme temperature changes, excessive sunlight... all of those things can trigger a migraine. It's a fine line.
I'm not trying to diagnose you; just letting you know that sometimes migraine appears at first to be a different type of headache. So, if your doctor can't find anything wrong with your sinuses, you might talk to him or her about migraine.

I've been getting migraines since I was 17 (I'm 49 now). Whichever type of headache you are getting, I hope it gets solved quickly so you can get to feeling better.

This sounds simplistic, but are you drinking enough water? I'm sure that there's another explanation as welll, but you may feel better if you drink more water. I get horrible headaches if I don't drink enough.
Hope you feel better soon

Simplistic here too...but when I get sinus headaches(don't they just make you NAUSEATED?), I get good results with Advil taken with caffeine. I guess Excedrin would work too(already has caffeine) but aspirin does not agree with me. Hope you are feeling better soon!

You are all so sweet. Thank you for the well wishes.
There are so many things that could be triggering this headache, aren't there. It's a bit overwhelming. I like the simple solutions; it would be great if they worked!!!
Right now I'm waiting for the results. If we rule out Sinus trouble, and maybe do the MRI on my brain and rule out anything neurological, then I must accept that I need to make some changes in my life. Things like removing food/drinks that might be triggering an allergy. Looking at the migraine issue; things like that.
I'm feeling so low, what with the pain and all, and the thought of any big changes is scary to me. Just something simple like not being able to have my morning cup of coffee makes me start crying. I LOVE my cup of coffee. Of course I'd give it up to get rid of the headaches, but if it's not the cause, I'd like to not have to suffer through the loss. Crazy isn't it.
I'll keep you all posted. You are such wonderful people. Thanks again for listening to me.

The best thing I ever did was use the book Heal Your Headache: The 1-2-3 Program for Taking Charge of Your Pain by David Buchholz. He sets out a plan for removing a lot of potential headache triggers, then you can gradually start adding things back in. He really gives great explanations about headaches and triggers and your headache threshold (how many triggers you can handle before you wind up with a headache). It's a tough program and I avoided it for years, but when I finally did it, it really helped! I used to have migraines almost daily, and now they're much more under control.
Assuming there is nothing wrong in your CT scan (I hope there's nothing wrong!), I highly recommend you take a look at this book. As cheesy as this sounds, it changed my life.

ewokgirl, thanks for the book recommendation. I'll see if the library has it and give it a look.

I was browsing another board and a lady who has migraines suggested this:
Peppermint essential oil (numbs) and Lavender essential oil (relaxes).
With both, you rub some on your temples and where your migraine hurts.
hope this helps ...
